Bob prepares to serve drinks and light snacks

Cannonball Bob must be the highest flying member of the South East Fers as he prepared the drinks trolley to serve light snacks aboard the Chinook. The big helicopter was certainly thrown through its paces in this first display of the season and one of the hits of this years Abingdon Fayre. It is hard to believe just how agile this great machine really is.

Despite a blustery and slightly grey day the Abingdon Works Centre in their anniversary year attracted some 150 MGs to this show. They hold their own paddock with the MGCC stall in a corner of the main show ground and are easily the largest car club represented here with their own entrance at the rear of the air field. There was certainly a wide selection of MGs present from a 2007 registered TF to a good selection of older tourers including MGB designer Don Hayter in his special MGB.

It was a little late notice for most SEFers as we had originally planned to attend a car show at the Fairmile in Cobham which was cancelled so only a handful managed to get to this event.

There were many cars of interest here but the outstanding one for me was was a Jaguar that looked like an Italian Supercar. The car was based on an XJ6 but had a custom built body based on the Lamborghini Espada. This was intended as a short production run of about 100 cars but only three ever got built. The pictures nicely sum up the rest of the show which kept us busy all day and we'll be looking for a more organised visit next year hopefully.
