First outing for the new MGF Register Gazebo
Video of Basingstoke 08 on it's way !
Baking in Basingstoke
In direct contrast to last year's Basingstoke Festival of Transport 2008
turned out to eb a bit of a scorcher. Just what we like for this big
mixed vehicle show. The good thing about Basingtoke, apart from being
totally free, is that it attracts a huge array of vehicles from massive
military lorries to the smallest scooters. This is largely because it is
organised by the Thornycroft society who attract their own club vehicles
to the show but also numerous other cars, buses, motorbikes, traction
engines....in fact you name it and it was probably their. The pictures
show just some of the vehicles to be seen amongst the individual entries
and the club enclosures.
The MGF Register were heer and it was the first outing for our new blue
club gazebo - this time keeping the sun off rather than the rain . With
it's white logo and url it certainly made the club paddock stand out and
we hope to see it, or it's sister, out at many other shows this summer
so keep an eye out for it - you could always spot the flag of course and
the gathering of MGF/TFs which might give you another clue as to where
we are.
Whilst the rest of us chilled out and wandered around looking at the
side stalls and vehicles Stewart was busy taking part in the Institute
of Advanced Motorists driving tests putting a new Nissan Micra through
it's paces. With a beady eye on potential rivals Stewart came away with
the highest acolade and is now the official "best driver in Basingstoke"
!
If you've never been to this show make a point next year - we'll be back
and on a sunny sunday you really can't beat it - I even brought a new
MGF....well a Corgi Donnington LE 1/18th scale version anyway !
