Every Year the MGF Register holds an annual Natter and Awards lunch. This year there was an unprecedented turnout of nearly 90 people who all braved the wild weather to spend an afternoon with the MGF Register …... |
The weather the night before was wild and many of the F/TFs heading
towards Frilford had to dodge fallen trees and huge swathes of water on
the road. Once there part of the car park was flooded and the F Register
flag flew off down the lane shortly after the above photo was taken. Despite the hazards of the British weather systems a record number of people did arrive from all over the country some from as far afield as Yorkshire, Wales and Norfolk. Tim and Adrian welcomed people as they arrived and pointed them in the direction of the Regalia Pixie, Emma, who was busy selling last minute Christmas gifts from the F Register shop. Richard & Gill provided the traditional MG cake as a prize for the annual Quiz which this year was set by Tim . Sixty four points were available with questions in categories from Santa’s Chauffeur to MGF Celebrities , MGF Anagrams to We three Kings of Orient are…..or were they ? If you learnt nothing more then at least you know how many gifts “my true love” received in the twelve days of Christmas. So who got the 38 points that won the quiz ?….well....Richard & Gill and their team so they got the cake back again but sportingly cut it into slices so every one went home with a piece. We also took the opportunity to launch the Scandinavian DVD and the very first MGF Register calendar featuring members photographs. This was followed by a raffle, to boost Register funds, with donated prizes ranging from a bottle of champagne to a tin of Tuna chunks—thanks to everyone who donated items and bought tickets. Finally we came to our annual awards ceremony, hosted by Adrian and Tim, who handed out trophies to our worthy recipients - well done to all our prize-winners this year and you can see who they were in the “F Word” of this edition of FTF. With this event growing in size we’ve booked the Doghouse again for 2007—2nd December—put it in your diary now. So did you know how many gifts there were ? 364 so she/he was a lucky person ! This year's Award Winners were.... Tanswell Trophy—awarded to Simon Young for being the MGF Register “Member of the Year” and who attended virtually all the MGF Register main events in 2006. Priest’s Trophy for the biggest contribution to the MGF Register in 2006 - Adrian Clifford - awarded for developing worldwide representation and encouraging the International MGF Register, an area that had not been covered prior to this year Special Awards - given at the discretion of the MGF Register Chairman to :- Johnathan & Colin Lee for their work on the MGF 10 and Scandinavian DVD’s. Bruno Verberck for his help on the Kempenrit 06 and his special attention to Art & Christine Jacks following their accident and to Mark Ward when his F was incapacitated on the same event . Hakan Sigemark for his exceptional help in organising the Scandinavian trip and for founding the MGF Register Scandinavia Art & Christine Jacks who narrowly escaped serious injury when their MGTF was in collision with a local driver on the Kempenrit 06 and with good cheer continues to support the Register and the MGTF model.
