It wasn't Bromley but it began with a B nonetheless. We put the Basingstoke Festival of Transport in the programme as Bromley Pageant clashed with Silverstone International this year and I'm glad we did as it turned out it to be a really nice and relaxing day. Usually with MGF events we're rushing about the countryside and you don't get much chance for a sit down and a chat but this time we did. Once the HQ was set up we chilled out in the overcast but warm weather, picnicking and chatting and watching the hordes of kids attracted to Jay's Cassie and her fresh pink fluffy bits . I'm not sure what the two frowning Morris Minors parked opposite thought about it all but Cassie certainly proved to be a hit. We pinched a bit of space from the Runnymede MGOC to fit all our F/TFs in so many thanks to them and it was good to have some older MGs tagged on to the end of the paddock to compare and contrast.

Sean and Claire were furthest travelled all the way from Norfolk to spend the day with us and we also had Jay and James travelling from Minehead topless fashion of course. We also had cars from the New Forest, Essex, Oxfordshire as well as closer to home Surrey and Hampshire. Adrian's Good as Gold and TimM's JayPeG sat next to each other  both resplendent in full display mode whilst we sat and chilled out under the Gazebo at MGF Register HQ.

Once the chin wagging was done there was plenty to see elsewhere around the two fields of this large show from the Mighty Antar to the smallest Vespa . I've never seen so many stalls selling model cars and you could get almost anything under the sun including some MGFs for as little as £1.50 ! I spotted Neil pick up a Lamborghini Countach made of glass for a fiver and he also sneaked off to buy another Subaru ! I managed to find an MG Rover mechanics workshop jacket for the bargain basement price of just £2 and proceeded to spend the rest of the day wearing it - luckily it was quite near the end of the day !.

In the club field there was paddocks with Austin Healey's Jaguars, Sprites, Morris Minors, TR7's, Three Triumph clubs, Ford Pilots, VW campers, customised cars , Ford Capris, American Cars etc etc. Just about anything you could imagine including some rarities and oddities in the individual entry section including a chopped Reliant Robin with scary bikers and a shrunken VW Beetle !

Loads of buses and coaches, military vehicles, breakdown trucks, lorries, motor bikes and scooters could be found in the other field and even a strangely surreal jazz band wandering around.

All in all a very pleasant way of spending  a summer sunday.
