Basingstoke is brilliant when the sun shines and it
certainly did this year. Sun hats and lotion were out instead of
umbrellas and windcheaters as we have experienced before...and no one
got struck by lightning ! The nice weather of course
meant a very full show and the queues to get in were testament to the
number of vehicles this year. Our own paddock was full and we had to
employ some creative parking to get everyone in the space available.
There is always such a wide variety at this event from the Mighty Antar
right down to the Vespa scooter and with a support cast of side stalls
not just selling automobiles but all sorts of other items as well.
Another 1/18th scale MGF joined my own collection, this one in Amaranth
and the home made fudge was delicious for instance.
Buses, lorries, steam engines, cars, military vehicles, motor bikes,
scooters all vied for space on the main field and the club field was
also packed with paddocks from the PT Cruisers, through American clubs,
hot rods, TR drivers club, Morris 1000's, minis, Ford Pilots....just a
bout everything really.
You could try your hand a t the Basingstoke Advanced
Motoring driving tests and many did, Stewart was not able to retain his
title won last year though.
