Nothing like a nice Bank Holiday Monday to
bring out the eFFers and this was precisely that. Dave and Michelle had
organised a circular tour starting from the Grasshopper at Westerham (scene
of the SEF's very first meeting way back in 2003). Some seventeen cars
turned up including some new faces - we all found Nick and Abbi's Japanese
Import F very interesting and I'm sure they picked up some useful tips. We
started with a couple of presentations left over from last year. Tim
presented Dave & Michelle with a trophy from the MGCC South East for coming
third in the Walking Treasure Hunt at the Summer Gathering in 2006 and also
passed on a Trophy for Tony Parker who won his class in the Autotest at the
same event. Neil Sutton stood down as Treasurer for the MGF Register this
year and Tim presented him with a commemorative bottle of Old Speckled Hen
to mark the occasion.
Zoe was our youngest driver at just one year old, it's amazing how
children mature so much earlier these days. Dad, Graham, persuaded her to
let him drive so Zoe ended up navigating instead and did a fantastic job as
they didn't get lost once.
Once the drivers were briefed and route plans handed out we set off for
the wilds of Kent. A scenic route took us down to Tonbridge where we stopped
in front of the castle and voted for our favourite photograph in an
exhibition held inside.
After a brief respite and a walk around the grounds we headed back for
the Grasshopper and lunch to end a pleasant day ..
