Did you know this Potman could weigh a Hundredweight ?
or
Did you find out what Railings subtract well equals ?
Just two of the slightly cryptic clues on the 2007 MG Car Club South
East Naviscat. Set this year by Tim Morris it was combined with the MGF
Register's annual Autumn Trail which usually has a clue busting theme as
well.
What's a Naviscat then ? Well the full title is "Navigational
Scatter" which sums it up quite neatly. You all meet up with cars, OS
Maps, Pencils and rulers and are given around 40 "points" to plot on the
map. The trick is the to get round to as many points as you can and
answer the clues at each location.
Naviscats are a "proper" motor sport and have to be approved by the
MSA but you can take them as seriously as you want. They end up at a
country pub for a nice lunch as a rule and this one was no exception as
we finished at the Abinger Hatch in Abinger Common with Tim waving the
finishers into the rear car park with the chequered flag.
Don't expect them to be like a treasure hunt though - there's a bit
more involved than that of you want to be a winner !
Around 27 cars took part this year including several
from the MGF Register South East region and was hotly fought. The
winners can be found on the MGCCSE website by clicking the link below
