Brooklands New Years Day Club Meet was a short notice South
East MGF event and took place on the day after the night before but we
still managed to get four cars up bright and early and in the cold to
head down to the old track. We're really glad we did as there
were hundreds of cars of all shapes and sizes from Hot Rods to vintage
cars, Ferraris to Fiats, Mercedes to MGs....well you get the picture. A
car snappers dream in a spectacular location meant that Andy could try
out his new Xmas present whilst the seasoned hands got down to business
trying to find that elusive star shot. Plenty to choose from with
aircraft and crumbling race track to provide the backdrop. Marty was
particularly smitten by the Ferrari Enzo and the all black Austin Healey
posed magnificently by the Test Hill. You didn't really need to look at
the exhibits as there was so much to see out in the paddocks, on the
finishing straight and up on the banking, which is where were, perfectly
coordinated, underneath the Members Bridge providing the last vestige of
the Xmas/New Year festivals by looking like Christmas tree baubles !
Having spent a happy couple of hours here we headed off to the Oatlands
Chaser to join the Hot Rodders and Humbers for lunch, a short distance
away from Brooklands we arrived a little late to see the full car park
display but there was still some gorgeous machinery on offer as you can
see in the pictures. Still we needed warming up and gammon steak and
chips awaited.
I think we may have to have another Hot Wheels award this year -
dirtiest car on an MGF event - Marty has got a head start. Someone buy
the poor boy a sponge . |
