MGF REGISTER SOUTH EAST REGION

What's It all About ?

The main  thing we have in common is the MGF and MGTF sports cars.

Other than that we're a pretty disparate group of people from most walks of life who enjoy chatting about our F's and life in general.

We are a region of the MG Car Club MGF Register and cover the South London, Surrey, Sussex and Kent areas although some of our members do visit us from further afield.

To join all you need do is turn up.

Membership of the MG Car Club is not a pre requisite but we will try and persuade you to join if you are not already a member !

The area we cover is roughly the same as the MG Car Club South East Region and we sometimes work in conjunction with them when arranging events and often join their events and occasionally organise events for the centre as well.

The MGF Register also organises large national "Main Events" and we encourage our members to join in with these to make them "Special" events wherever they are held from Scotland to Italy !.

The Region itself  also organises it's own smaller scale runs and meetings as well as other social activities such as our regular Ten Pin Bowling challenge.

Members of the group participate in all kinds of activities with their F/TFs ranging from Track Days to Concours competitions but we're not afraid of getting the cars muddy and events are organised all year round.

We are always open to suggestions from F owners who come along to the meetings so if you have an idea for an unusual outing or event just bring them along to one of the pub meets and before long you could be leading your own event.

We have regular evening meetings on the second Thursday of each month and the venue's change so you need to keep an eye on our forum to find out what is coming up. Our most popular venue is the Jovial Sailor at Ripley in Surrey where we tend to meet more than elsewhere

The pictures on the left give an example of some of the things we get up to - why not give us a try - you'll find details of the latest events on our internet forum.

Above all come along, meet us , have a chat, tell us about your F and be part of the MGF Register community

HISTORY OF THE CLUB

The South East "Fers" were formed in 2003 when a group on the MG Enthusiast Bulletin Board decided that MG clubs were generally for "older" people and that there was a place for a "younger" group with their MGFs. The group first met at the Grasshopper in Westerham, Kent and Tim Morris (who was not that young !) volunteered to organise the group.

It quickly became apparent that the MGF was driven by a vast age range so the original "young" ethos soon disappeared and we now cater for enthusiasts of all ages !

At that time there were a couple of other MGF groups around, notably in Scotland and Wales formed in a similar way whilst the oldest group, the "Essex Roadsters" had been going since 1998 just north of the Thames. These groups along with the SEFers became affiliated to the main MGF Register in 2004 and are now run as regions of that organisation.

The first run we did was in 2003 and called the "Tunnel King Tour" which took us around the coast of Kent finding as many tunnels as we could along the way. This set the precedent for other runs which have often be themed as well. The "Invaders tour" and "Martello Tower Tour" in subsequent years were good examples and were run as MGF Register Main Events.

The group now has a full schedule each year which links in with the MGCC South East Centre and the MGF Register Main Events as well as the main MG Car Club.

We attend various shows representing the MGF Register with Brooklands MG Day and Basingstoke Festival of Transport becoming permanent fixtures. We also support the MGCCSE Summer Gathering each year with a large selection of Fs and our annual "Summer Games"

Another feature is MGFest where we hold our own paddock display and take part in the "inter region" Team games with our team coming first in 2007, 2008 and 2009 !

As for the future - well much of the same I suspect but more of it !!
