LOOKING FORWARD

The new regular evening meets have already started and after much consultation we've decided on the second Thursday of each month.

We met at the Jovial Sailor in Ripley for our first meet in January and welcomed David Koskela from Church Square Autos in Shepperton who came along in his new Crystal White LE500 which was much admired.

Our next evening meet will be on Thursday 12th February at the Surrey Arms in Newdigate, a pub highly recommended by CAMRA. The plan at present is to alternate between the two venues ...bu,t as in all things South East MGF, that is more than likely to change so keep an eye out here and on our forum if you are planning to join us.

The group is part of the MG Car Club and the South East Centre are holding their annual dinner and awards evening on Saturday 7th March. You can down load a booking form HERE but don't forget to mention you want to be on the MGF table ! Several of us South East Fers are keen on Naviscats and the South East Centre Spring one is coming up on Sunday 29th March. It's organised by SEF regulars Barry & Su so lets support them with a strong MGF turnout - download the application form HERE.

We'll organise a short run to the MGOC's Cobweb Spin at Hursley Park near Winchester on Sunday 8th March where there's usually a very good turn out of MGs of all shapes and sizes as well as other invited clubs.

The Spring Bowling Challenge will be on Thursday 19th March and takes place at our usual venue of the Spectrum at Guildford. If you fancy your chances of being overall bowling champion for 2009 the you need to join us at this one !

Zipping into April which looks like a busy month with Brooklands MG Day on the 5th, The Bunny Blast on Bank Holiday Monday (13th), teh Pride of Longbridge Rally is on the 18th and usually attracts a good South East contingent. The MG Heritage Charity Run to Windsor is on the 25th. This latter looks like a seriously big event with 1000 MGs descending on the Long Walk and parking right in front of the Castle itself. There's a cavalcade of 300 special MGs followed by a Royal Review at Frogmore Parade Ground. The Charity run is separate and the South East one runs from Bocketts Farm at Leatherhead and will be limited to 100 cars so get the application from in soon. You need to apply to the MGOC and more information is available HERE.

See you soon .

LAST FLING FOR CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS AT BROOKLANDS CLUB MEET

Resembling Christmas baubles a small but perfectly coordinated group from the South East visited Brooklands at their New Years Day Club Meet. With hundreds of other classics on site our foursome parked directly underneath the Members Bridge on the famous banking itself and provided a splash of colour to the concrete canvas.

There was a strong MG presence as may be expected but also a large amount of Mercedes and Bentleys were present. Following a stroll around the paddocks our group headed off to join the Humbers and Hot Rodders at the Oatlands Chaser for lunch and a bit of a warm up !.

HOT WHEELS AWARDS

We always round the year off with our Hot Wheels Awards Xmas Dinner. 2008 was no exception and we gathered at one of our regular haunts, The Jovial Sailor in Ripley, Surrey. Santa Claus didn't visit and relieve us of our spare cash this year so we got on to the matter in hand, eating , drinking and being merry...and tackling the South East Xmas Quiz of course.

Proud winners of the quiz this year were Team Parker so well done to Graham and Claire. The highlight of the evening after Christmas Pudding are the Hot Wheels Awards themselves, lovingly crafted by Tim, we are now in our 5th year of distributing these to the worthy.

And the worthy this year were:-

  Winter Warmer Wet One

This year's Winter Warmer Run was the latest we'd ever organised this event and the weather certainly lived up to expectations. Rain had filled up all the hollows in the country lanes and mud and debris slid down the middle of the roads as we rattled over cattle grids and made a surprise visit to Rudolf and the rest of the reindeer.
