MGF 10 Heritage Motor Centre Sunday 16th October A great day was had by all at this event. I'm quite sure I didn't spot all the SEFers who were there but I did bump in to a few of you as I dashed about like a mad thing all day and several were helping out around the show as well. Big thanks to everyone who came to MGF 10 and added to the 500 MG Fs and TFs that were there.

AUTUMN TRAIL - Lost Photographs Sunday 2nd October 2005 This was a Treasure Hunt with a difference. Tim had lost the locations he took several photos in during the summer and needed help in finding out where they were they were. The SEFers had to solve clues as to where the location was a map, find the location - identify the photograph and then for a bonus find another small photographic item and answer a question about it - phew - not easy then ! We had a winner and a car that we are still waiting to return - Come back Emma your time is up !! Who was challenged ? Tony & Lynne, Emma & Mel, Kevin, DonK and Liza, Sally & John, Dave & Michelle.

RED EYE RUN III Friday 2nd September 2005 We met at The Plough in Bletchingley on a warm September evening. 19 cars inclduing a Lotus and a Caterham set off towards Brighton. Sadly Jason didn't get much further than Gatwick when he ran over an oil filter in the road bursting two tyres. Shortly afterwards a tree across the road caused some interest from local residents at 1am when a line of Fs began a short course of zen navigation to Haywards Heath. Once on Madeira Drive we avoided the drunks (just) and headed off for either the Market Diner or the Pease Pottage Services for breakfast before finally getting home around 4am. Who had red Eyes? - TimM & Liz, Dave & Michelle, Cannonball Bob, Scooby Sutton, Philip & Suzanne, Caroline, Angela, Emma, Roger, Russell, Kevin, Sally and John, Ian, Garry, Dave B, Mark L, Jason, Steve plus some more but I've forgotten names - sorry !.

LONGBRIDGE 100 9th/10th July Cofton Park, Longbridge, Birmingham Not strictly an SEF event but we did represent the MGF register at this massive event in Birmingham dead opposite the Longbridge factory. We were in good company with over 1,500 vehicles on the field over the weekend. We had four cars on display and just under twenty in the paddock on each day nestling between the MGCC and the MGOC. Click picture for 51 more pics of the event !! Which SEFers celebrated ? - TimM & Liz, Adrian, NeilS, TimJ, Elaine & Andy.

SECOND BIRTHDAY PARTY Treasure Hunt & Grand Prix Sunday 26th June Wisley to SEF HQ
We are now entering our third year since the SEFers were founded back in 2003 at a suggestion from the mysterious Dave the Duck who has now totally disappeared !. Since then we've gone from strength to strength and are now part of the MG Car Club, although that doesn't stop non MGCC from being welcome !. To celebrate our second birthday we went down to the woods again at Wisley for the start of a short driving treasure hunt across the north downs and back to Addlestone. Along the way several cryptic clues were set along with some easier ones - the answers lay all around and you didn't have to get out of the car once !. Eventually though there could only be one winner - well done Dave and Maria Mills. Once back at SEF HQ in Addlestone Tim had fired up the barbecue and was busily burning sausages and burgers - well at least his daughter was whilst he was sampling the delights of the beverages everyone had brought along ! Thanks everyone ! Of course no birthday party would be complete without a mini Grand Prix and this year was no exception although we tried a different method of racing with each person racing against another once - very complicated but again we ended up with a sure fire winner - and coincidently he was the same man as last years winner - well done Don Kimberley ! Who Partied ? - TimM & Liz & Sarah, Adrian & Michael, DonK, NeilS, Kevin, TimJ, DaveM & Maria, DaveA & Michelle (briefly !) |

INVADERS TOUR Sunday 19th June A very very hot day with temperatures in the nineties and there wasn't much shade when driving your MGF through those Kentish country lanes. It was brilliant if you kept the factor 25 topped up - a little too hot for the 2CV that burst in to flames as entrants made their way to the start at Eynsford !. Lullingstone Roman Villa provided ample shade to gather and Tim vigorously flagged all fifteen of the cars away. Everyone got to the halfway point at Headcorn airfield and watched the host of different types of flying craft take off and land whilst parachutists dropped in on us from the skies. There was even a car boot fair where Dawn managed to obtain a floral attachment for their F !. Some of us picnicked whilst pothers looked around the small museum before heading either to the Bell at Smarden or another country pub. The second half of the run took us on easier roads down towards the coast and the levels at Romney Marsh where we all met up again at the finish point of Brenzett Aeronautical Museum. The Gazebo provided a little shade from the relentless sun or you could sit under the wing of the conveniently parked Canberra Bomber before taking a look around the sometimes quirky museum exhibits. Thanks to all those who came and enjoyed themselves on this busy day out and I'm sure those sun tans lasted for some while ! |

INDIAN SAFARI Thursday 19th May A fairly inclement evening kept the tops on as we met up at the Hogsback cafe on the A31 at Farnham . Luckily it just about held off actual rain until we had completed the run. Five Fs turned up including some new faces and a sixth met us at the destination. We were all set to tackle the wilds of the Surrey/Hampshire borders and soon turned off the hustle bustle of the A31 in to quieter single track lanes and sleepy country pubs. Interrupted only by the clatter of Chinooks at Odiham (don't know if SEFer Cannonball Bob spotted us from above!) we wound our way across to Hook Common where we discovered the Gate of India waiting for us. Once there we sought out some spicy foods and enjoyed some MGF chat. Who Discovered ? - TimM, Neil S, Sally Ann and ?, DonK, Kevin, Tony & Andrea.

BOWLING CHALLENGE PART ONE Guildford Spectrum Thursday 21st April Part One of this year's bowling challenge took place at the Guildford Spectrum and one of us actually managed to turn up to it in a TF - special prize for Angela - even TimM turned up in his new ZR !. With our numbers augmented by some local Police Staff we took over two lanes at the Spectrum for two hard fought games. With some interesting bowling styles on display we managed not to break too much - apart from a bruised ego (and coxis) as one of our members discovered it's very slippery on the lane itself as he tried to fling himself towards the pins. An ankle took a bashing as the ball took off at 17.9mph down the lane. I didn't realise bowling was such a dangerous sport. Tom and Graham vied with each other to see who could bowl the ball fastest - I never did find out who won that particular competition. TimM managed to get the ball to hit a few more pins than usual and Anglea did remarkably well despite her initial worries. The laurels (if TimM had remembered to bring the prize certificates that is !) went to Neil with Angela a worthy runner up. I've had a word with Kev and he's happy to take a 50 point handicap per game at our next bowling session so Neil - you're in with a chance of being 2005 top bowler ! |

BROOKLANDS MG DAY Sunday 10th April A good day out at Brooklands in some nice Spring Sunshine - with the occasional gust of wind from The Heights which made keeping the Gazebo on the ground interesting as we weren't allowed to peg it to the new tarmac! The stall did well and loads of leaflets were picked up and we met up with lots of potential new SEFers ! Who came ? - TimM, Adrian, Bob Foster, Neil S, Caroline, Mark, Dave & Michelle, Bob & Kate plus all the others who came over to the stall and spoke to us !

BUNNY BLAST Monday 28th March Blimey ...a sunny Bank Holiday monday in the South East. Fantastic what better than a good hoods down blast across the A roads of Kent. Nine SEFers gathered at The Bluebell Railway car park in East Sussex. Dave & Michelle had meticulously planned the route as usual and produced some great tulip diagrams to follow. AS soon as Tony & Lynne got theirs they were off and testing their exhaust out as they left the car park heading for the A272. The rest of us looked at the cloud of dust left behind and snaked our way off to see if we could find them. We didn't until we got to the Pub at Smarden where they greeted us with "where have you lot been then , we've been here ages !". Well we were making sure that Dave's brakes worked -they did and left a startling black line across Kent's road surface as his Trophy was enveloped in wafts of burning rubber - Yes a very quick stop thanks to a Police car parked causing an obstruction behind a little puddle of spilt oil - a sign around the tight right hander just before would probably have helped but I guess Kent's finest hadn't got to that bit yet !. Narrowly avoiding one "Jenner" moment Angela then had a repeat as she stopped in the same traffic queue and the car behind her very nearly didn't - she almost got some dents on her rear valence to complement the scratches which have only been there for a year or so !. Avoiding further mishap we enjoyed a pleasant drive along the Kent A roads with the sun and wind in the remains of our hair - getting to the pub in time for lunch which we enjoyed al fresco despite our benches being slightly in the shade. It was also good to see that Dave Tulet's F got through another MOT albeit with a £500 cash injection - and at only 151,000 miles as well. Who Blasted ? - TimM, NeilS, TimJ, Angela, Adrian & Dawn, Andy & Elaine, Two Parker-Jones', Dave & Michelle, Dave & Heather. |

MGCCSE SPRING NAVISCAT March 20th Obviously the temptation of a morning in the Sussex countryside tackling a tricky Naviscat was not to all the SEFers taste. However the weather was fine and our brain cells were put to the test by Barry & Sue who had organised the event. Adrian turned up but unfortunately was unable to take part due to having no navigator with him - never mind Adrian. Dave & Michelle got to the start with seconds to spare but just managed to sign on in time. Tim and Kevin were there with pencils sharpened and romer at the ready. It looks like we'll be keeping next year's event in the SEF family as Tim & Kevin were the overall winners with 40 points. Dave & Michelle now know what it's all about and will no doubt be challenging at the next one !. Who Scattered ? - TimM & Kevin, Dave & Michelle, Barry & Sue, Adrian (nearly)

COBWEB SPIN Sunday 6th March I think it might have been the first day of spring - at least the cold snap had passed -the snow had gone - the sun was shining - and the MGF hoods were firmly in the lowered position. Three Fs met at Wisley Services and we picked up another at Farnham. Joined briefly by an unknown nightfire red F we headed down the A31 towards Winchester - and only got stuck in two traffic jams !. A lack of Fs when we got there and we failed to bump into Tony Thompson whose "Green bullet" was there but no sign of him !. Bob Foster from the F Register joined us making a total of five Fs in a row at Hursley PArk - more than doubling the number that were already there. Who Spun to Hursley Park ? - TimM, Dave & Michelle, Jase, Kevin, Tony Thompson, Bob Foster. |

MG INTERNATIONAL STONELEIGH Sunday 20th February We managed to get six SEFers together in the end for a meet at Cherwell Services in the freezing cold prior to a nice run along the fast, twisty A232 from Banbury to Princethorpe. We then cut across country for the final stretch emerging from a country lane dead opposite the Stoneleigh Showground. We managed to pick up a seventh TF en route although he left us just before Stoneleigh. The Essex Roadsters made an attempt to join us but took a wrong turning and got lost !. Dave & Michelle were delayed by dismay when they got up to find some drunken b*%!!*!* had run over their TF denting the bonnet, boot and bending a hood rail. nonetheless they just made it to the start in time - that's true SEFing for you !. Also welcome to new member Roger on his first MG Event with us. Try as I might I couldn't quite lose that snake of Fs behind me and we all got to Stoneleigh safely. Who Twisted to Stoneleigh then - TimM, Tony & Andrea, Roger, Dave & Michelle, Neil, The Pipkins.

EVENING MEET Thursday 4th February A small select gathering at The Talbot in Ripley - after the success of the Go Karting we returned to one of our smallest meetings ever - just four people for a snug pint but we did greet new SEFer Roger Middleton who has just taken ownership of a TF 160. I think he was looking for a larger group mind you !. Two of us even brought an F along! Who were the quartet - TimM, Kevin, Caroline, Roger
