Re: best way to remove crankshaft sensor on tf 160
I have now done it. From below I unbolted the oil cooler and its mounting bracket. That gives just enough room to get a 7mm socket with several extenshions on a 1/4 drive to get the bolt holding the crankshaft sensor out. I advise even with this I was lucky to have a two post lift, and did undo the ...

Re: tf 160 not starting after cam belt fitted
this may help someone in the future. Being a vvc 160 with an oil cooler access to the crankshaft sensor, is impossible. But If you remove the oil cooler and its mounting bracket, it is much easier to get to the bolt and take out the sensor . Much Much easier! Thats from above. from the bottom the ex...

best way to remove crankshaft sensor on tf 160
I see that the sensor has a bolt holding it to the gearbox flange. Is this a 7mm spanner to undo this? Access. Looks very tight. I have a two post lift, and can just about reach it from below but the exhaust is in the way. i can go via the grill in the boot but it seems very hard to get a spanner on...

Re: tf 160 not starting after cam belt fitted
yes I think I have found the issue. We un plugged the crankshaft sensor, and when we plugged it back in, it looks like one of the pins on the sensor has been bent and isn't going in to the plug. I can just about see this using a mirror. Next issue is how do you get to the sensor to remove it. Have p...

Re: tf 160 not starting after cam belt fitted
just got some help, so I could check if its sparking... No spark, engine turns over fine. So now thinking crankshaft sensor was un plugged and recconected. Maybe bent pins? Or more likely key is out of sync. It is a pecktron unit. Unlocks ok on the key fob, and red light on dash goes off, engine spi...

Re: hgf twice
It has been a while but I thought you might like an update with an interesting development. We have been busy with other cars, but today decided to look more closely at an mgf we have here which had a head gasket changed, but was losing coolant straight away. We read an old posting concerning bolt l...

Re: hgf twice
The heads are not indented like your photos, but the liner heights are mariginal, but not flat or low.
not sure if it is a good idea but have seen a video of a block being sanded to get a good liner height??

hgf twice
we have a tf160, and a 135 sprint both have had hgf but after a skim the gasket has failed again, with water being burnt , and some water getting in to the oil. I have read that despite a skim, we could try again, but this time peen around the fire rings before skimmimg this should help harden the h...

Re: head gasket issue
Have been out looking and driving the 135 Have refitted second new head gasket this time a oem as the liners are low. At start up it does smoke a bit, but after driving round the lanes, that stops once up to temp, so i am happy it is not burning coolant. There is no smoke and you can rev it high and...

just taken out fuel pump assembley. Any ideas as to how you remove the pump on its own from the plastic bits? and can you then replace just the pump?

fuel pump issues
Some of you may have read our thread on a HGF and trying to find out why a new mls has failed after 5 minutes. Well having changed the hg again, on start up the fuel pump is not starting, and is not priming. You can hear the stepper moto but nothing else. Checked the cut off switch that is ok. fuel ...

Re: head gasket issue
could it be that we have not gone the full half turn twice on the head bolts? after the inital torque?
I am heading to trying one of these and checking the liners to see if we have a mover.

Any ideas welcome
