Re: HID Xenon upgrades

I'll need to get the headlight alignment checked as I fitted the HID's into a replacement set of second hand, but good reflector headlights. This was in an attempt to preserve the reflectors as the new HID's are lower wattage at 35W so they run cooler. I did compare the physical position of the adju...

Re: HID Xenon upgrades

Hello. If they are correctly setup by a garage I don't see why they shouldn't be OK as that should ensure that oncoming drivers are not dazzled. If they pass an MOT then as far as I'm concerned then they are safe to be on the car and as long as I'm not flashed then the Xenons are serving the purpose...

HID Xenon upgrades

Hello all. The headlights on my '97 VVC were looking very sad and misted up. I'm pretty sure they'd have failed the next MOT in Feb and the light output was poor. I managed to find a very good condition 2nd hand set on a well known auction site at a good price and duly shelled out some hard earned! ...

Spare wheel retainer

Hi all. I think a rusted and seized spare wheel retainer bolt is common on the MGF. Mine had been cut off very short so much so that even with lots of WD40 soaking etc I couldn't remove it with grips etc. So I've started to drill out the sawn off bolt from the rusty captive nut, but even though ther...

Just a couple of Q's

Hi All. I'm borrowing a trolley jack to lift the front end of my newly aquired VVC and plonk it down with it's front wheels on a pair of ramps (Have always hated driving up ramps!). Can anybody tell me the best place to jack the MGF from using a trolley jack please? Also can the air intakes on the r...

Re: New to the MGF

Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome. She came from MGFnTFBitz in Glossop and for it's age seems to be a nice one with a few things needing doing, but no more than you'd expect on a 17 year old car. She's very good underneath and has had stainless water pipes, radiator, replacement underbody p...

Re: New to the MGF

Hi Gary and Dave J. Thank you for the welcome. Here's a couple of pics DSC00042.JPG DSC00043.JPG I took a bit of a risk as she was purchased without actually getting to inspect the car, but she came from a well known and trusted source from what I can gather, in fact they have already sent me a coup...

New to the MGF

Hello everyone.
My '97 Diamond white MGF VVC got delivered to me on Monday 18th August so I'm new to the forum and the register as well as the MGF.
I'm in the Aylesbury area and I'm already building up a long list of questions to ask! ;)
