Re: MGF gearbox cross member

I could see mine was very rotten before last MOT (UK). There are normally a few s/h on ebay, I got one, chucked it in the boot in case and the garage fitted it when it failed....I think a quick job if you've got the kit to undo/cut/drill the bolts. Maybe not so easy DIY.

Coolant leak...

Strange one I think - looking for some advice. MGF 1.8 VVC 1997. I was getting a small coolant leak dripping from below the alternator when I started up, for maybe a minute or two. Then it would stop. Thinking this was the water pump, I just got the MOT, + changed timing belt & new water pump. Went ...

Re: MGF mk1 induction / increased ventilation

K&N 57i. kit comes with a couple of flexi pipes to route underneath (I think). DIY. Remove the old air box, fit filter, add flexi piping if you like...not sure how much difference the piping will make, but the filter is supposedly good for a few extra BHP. I have one, just not fitted it yet. This wo...

Re: Oh Pooh

Mine looks a little like that..but is still in place.

I'm a little nervous on bumpy roads...

Was it a straightforward job to get it off? They don't seem to be too pricey for a s/h replacement?

Re: 15 Year Airbag Module Replacement

If the replacement part is going to be at least 10 years old, is there much benefit to it?
Think you just answered your own question!

Would be interested to know if anyone had actually changed it out, and cost etc.

Re: “Inaccessible” hose clips?

Why didn't you take off the engine cover?
I did! It's the one underneath, pointing down - not enough room to get a spanner or socket wrench to it from above. Several scraped knuckles later I put it on the ramps and went upwards!

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?

Changed the water temperature gauge sender - what a faff getting to that!

Then went for a spin with a big grin on my face as the needle sat steadily just just below half way...rather than not moving!

Re: “Inaccessible” hose clips?

No advice I'm afraid, but a big dollop of sympathy! I just had to change the water temp gauge sender today. Damn near impossible to get too, as many things seem to be. Ended up getting to it from under the car with a multi extension socket set about 2 feet long and a spark plug socket.... Still, at ...

I just had mine up on ramps and found a single drip and a small pink stain from the lower radiator hose connector. Water level was going down verrrry slowly.
