VVC oil leak, and a solution/question?
hello all, My 1996 VVC has developed an oil leak and it's starting to reach embarrassing levels of drive-spotting. The car had been used sparingly for the last few years until I got hold of it and pressed it into service as a daily over the summer, and she is currently doing around 1500 miles per mo...

Re: where to get Hydragas pumped up ????
I had mine done at Camerton Auto Repairs, in Camerton, Bath, on Friday. He took 2 hours ( he asked to have some time to let it settle, due to the high temperature) and charged me £36. Same bloke did my cambelts (mines a VVC) and charged £170 (I supplied the belts & water pump) Nice bloke, 01761 470416

Re: mgf oil leek
holy thread resurrection, Batman... My VVC has an oil leak and there is evidence of seepage from the HCU. Some google-fu seems to indicate that the HCU gasket can be replaced without having to re-time the entire VVC system, is this correct? Is it simply a case of undo three bolts, lift off the HCU, ...

MG specialists in the region
hi all, new member in Trowvegas (or Trowbridge to those fortunate enough not to live here) Can anyone recommend a good MGF friendly garage or mobile mechanic in the region? My VVC has no history at all, so I would be a lot happier after a cambelt change (a bit beyond my means here). I did a google s...

hi, have you still got the column stalks? can you confirm that the lighting side is fully functioning, please?
If so, I'll take it, how do I get the money to you?
Thanks, Al

Re: Flasher switch?
Hi Peter. I arrived at that conclusion as well! You have cheered me up no end :-) If I switch my dip beams on, and then operate the stalk, it passes through the "flash" position with nothing happening, until it reaches the positive "click" which turns on the main beam. I've sat in the car with the s...

Re: key fob repair/replacement
Take it apart & remove the battery then remove the printed circuit from the plastic cover. I recently had a similar problem with mine and it turned out to be a dry joint on one of the microswitches, as well as a failed joint on the battery carrier. Before you put it back into the plastic fob, repla...

Re: Flasher switch?
I've found this:-
http://www.mgfcar.de/schedules/lights.htm
which explains how they work at the lights but not the wiring of the stalk switch itself.
Ho-hum, trial and error time

Re: Flasher switch?
well, it wasn't that :-\ the replacement (used) stalk was waiting for me when I got home, following your suggestion I switched over the plugs without unbolting anything and I still don't have a flash. Oh well, time to chase down a wiring fault. Does anyone know if, when you operate the flash, both d...

key fob repair/replacement
evening all.
im slowly working through the faults on my '96 VVC, and one of them is the key fob.
It came with two, one of which works and one doesn't. I've changed the battery, still inop.
Can these be fixed? or replacements bought?
cheers, Taff

Flasher switch?
evening all, first of many questions as I chase the various faults on my car, which is a 1996 VVC. My flash function on the column stalk switch doesn't work. The lighting & indicators all work as they should, all I'm missing is the momentary flash as you pull the switch towards you. I pulled the col...

Afternoon all, New forum member and just recently c0llected my first MGF (and only my second MG, on reflection) which is a '96 VVC in BRG with a whole host of faults. It is great fun to drive though so I will forgive it a few niggles. I'll apologise up front if there are a lot of questions but I'm j...
