Re: 19-26 Aug 2018 - MG Rhine Tour
Step by step the number of participants is rising, up to now Two Brittish cars, one from Sweden, a bunch of German cars and a single one from the downstream country. Join in so that the international part of the group gets a bit bigger in number.

Re: 19-26 Aug 2018 - MG Rhine Tour
It is good to see 8 of the cars are F's, and 7 of them are Mk1!
At many events TF rules nowadays, and I feel a bit of a special driving a '96 F, the oldest car of the lot. This time mine is not the oldest by far

aahhh.....
Mid summer: 16,7 degC at noon. A bit of rain in between of the showers, an occasional thunder. Yep: it is Summertime in The Netherlands.
Think I'm getting mad: Took the motorbike this morning to get to the office.... Having the Hardtop on the TF would be a good idea

Re: Potential eBay MGF bargain
If I had a secret barn, I'd start hoarding a few of these early cars... I'm looking for that barn, and the money pit as well ;) You're absolutely right; the early cars will be sought after soon: just wait until all changed over to transparent indicator covers and the orange ones are not available a...

Re: 280mm BRAKES
it is a usual view, rear brakes can get much more dusty using 280's, either only at the front or at front and rear. Got the same issue on both my F and TF, allthough they have different set ups and I changed brake pads serveral times now (MGF green stuff - Mintex 1144 - Red Stuff. on Black Diamond -...

Re: Winter tyres
It is not just Germany, it is all over the continent people use winter tyres. Allthough they are not legally required in our country, most people who use their car on a daily base have winter tyres. So do I on my TF (the F is just for pleasure and stays in during the cold period). I'm running on Con...

Re: MG TF : deactivate power steering
Did the trick, mentioned by Chris, of an EPAS switch over a dozen years ago, and you're right Pascal, the feeling in the steering is a lot better without EPAS. Using the switch and a relais stops the red light from shining in your face all the time in contrast to detaching the fuse. Finding a spare ...

Re: What colour for Hardtop?
Mk1 had a black shiny hardtop, combined with the windscreen frame in the same colour. On the Mk2 the colour of both was changed into the uniform colourscheme.MrNatural wrote:I think hard tops were produced in black or white until about 2001? Then could be colour coded for a premium.....

Re: 10W40 Engine Oil
Hi there Any good oil will do I use Halfords 5/40 full sync as they sell it in 4 Lt @ £12 this is an offer price as normally it's 5Lts and £25 I also have a V V C in BRG in principle you are right, the quality that commercial producers use nowadays are so much higher than the prescribed minimum sta...

Re: MGF 15 inch tyres
I believe Yokahama Advan's are available in both sizes, however these have been described to me as 'street legal race tyres' so I guess the wear rate is pretty high. Yokohama S-drive would be the most logical option if you want to go for original sizes on a 15" rim. Not the cheapest option but I pr...

Yes i will re-paint the car and obviously will be done in a professional workshop. Will rebuild from scratch but I am a beginner so will go slowly :thumbsu: Don't worry, a propper respray is well doable. Dismantling all shiny bits and the interiour is easy and without doubt you'll manage the front ...

Re: Overheating again
Driving an MGF there are only few spare parts you cannot do without: a spare cap of the expansion tanks, the top plug of the radiator and a temperature sensor.
The first two have been very useful on the road, helping others and myself too. The third one I lacked once in Luxembourgh....

Re: Battery Charging
2 to 3 weeks wow, can't make that with either the MGF or the TF. Both being technically ok! Like scimitargtc I have introduced the old fashioned battery disconnect switch on all cars. In the end I simply turn the engine of the MGF off in late october and firing it up again in March without taking an...

Yes I know that's why I always post everything in both places and our facebook page is open! We have nothing to hide! I think it is not just that: A closed group will never grow as new entries are not stimulated to join in but will decline and shrink during the years as the older members will stop ...

Did this as a project on mgf.be in the members section some years ago, unfortunately it is in the Dutch language.
Re: Malta
well, tyre size is no part of the discussion for the solution of the problem: you have to measure the distance between the lower end of the wheel arch and the centre of the wheel. Regardless you are driving 15" larger rims, with whatever size of tyre, this distance stays the same. For the front 368+...

So many reasons to take the MG today, and tomorrow too.
(exept from the motorbike I don't have an alternative, it has to be the MG)
