Re: Fabio Filippello, President of MGCC Italy

Sad news, I met Fabio a long time ago, ofcourse on a "MG by the sea" events and had occasional contact. A real friend that did everything possible to be the best host you could wish for. He'll be misssed by many.

My thoughts are with his wife, family and friend.

Re: Aussie Kit or ....

Just buy a set of used and with a membrane that is 100%. Make a nozzle on the gas side of the canister and weld on a schrader valve give it a new layer of paint introduce nitrogen exchanger the canisters pump up the hydraulics and your car drives like it did driving out of the showroom for the very ...

Re: Windscreen washer jets

Without seeing them I think 1949tf is right, probably they are heated ones. The heating system is an original MG-Rover option that did not sell too well. Clear, as it is not compatible with the very popular continental storage box :) Apart from my MGF (it hasn't been in winter conditions for ages, t...

Re: Visitors to the UK and the £1 coin

Thank you for the reminder Colin, read it in the paper as well.

The loss of one of the most iconic coins available in the world.

I Feel sorry for you Brits...... I'll be over before October but I'll keep the two one Pound Sterling coins as a remembrance of good times.

Re: New regional area

Good news Neil & Barbara. Bit far for just a lunch meet but close enough for us to make it a weekend visit - probably in New Year now. Maybe Kasper and his lovely Biker Chick could fit a weekend visit in the Spring. Sounds tempting John 8-) Now to find out how to get there: by MG......or by Bike :l...

Re: Fitting ABS to mk1 MGF

Looking at prices in the UK i would say: you have to be on a very good relationship with your own F before starting investing in a job like this. At first you'll have to trace a suitable ABS unit, I can't tell if they are easy to come by in a country with so many MGFs without ABS. But a breaker shal...

Congrats to all in the area, I'm convinced Neil and Barbara will do a great job and form a solid base to expand the group MG of friends. :thumbsu:
Good luck to the both of you!

Bit steep, visiting just for a Sunday's lunch though

it is just a reminder you're driving a sports car rather than an everyday people mover. It needs TLC for every day use....

It should help cars like "Project Shed" to stand out of the crowd. ;)

Re: rad bleed screw snapped

Go for it, But the plastic plug may be 16 years old and if it does not have the rubber washer then it has probably been overtightened (snapped) to stop a leak. How long do you expect to keep the car ??? If the SS plug seizes then the boss will break away giving a rather bigger problem. Geoff F. All...

Re: Brake pads (the 'best'...?)

I tried various sets of brake pads on both my MGF as TF. OEM is not that bad but certainly using 240 mm rotors they are not fit for a sportscar. They'll do fine for every day use but not driving 100 MPH on German motorways, witch is one of the things I do every now and then.... Used the early green ...

Re: overheating problem a bit strange?

Think you are 100% right Mykel, bought a Pscan as well after my experiences in Luxembourg. Although we hit the nail on the head by replacing the temperature sensor, a lot of discussions and thinking was needed to get the right conclusion. having the right tool at hand is most sensible.

Re: set of suspension bushes found

Would be an ideal set for people in Belgium as they'll be faced with a look of the at the bushes during their MOT. A different colour (e.g. purple Polybushes) will result in a non approval of the car.

Re: Water in TF sills

I think the problem isn't where it comes from, it will get there anyway.
Your problem the opening at the bottom of the sills is blocked.

I had the same last spring, used a screw driver to open up the 4 holes at the inner side of the sill liner. Blocked with debris. Problem solved.

Re: Top 10 MGF Mods?

Hi Robbo, Thank you for the reply on my views, absolutely I would not part from my F, for no money in the world. Comparing to a Lotus was just to put a sort-alike car to the MG(T)F where the designer has put focus on different aspects of the car. Being aware my F is a 20 years old car no-one can den...

Re: Top 10 MGF Mods?

The funny thing is that only the polybushes are focussed on handling the car, all other are about improving performance or add nice to have things. Improving the handling of the car is most important in my point of view as this releases the engine from the need to do that extra bit. As for the brake...

Re: Top 10 MGF Mods?

There are a lot of things on the lists above I did but to ad a decent one that should be done to any elder car: fit polybushes all around, that recovers the drivability and stability of the car up to more than you would expect. But you do need it otherwise you'll be in an old and tired car wobbling ...

Re: Gearbox swap ZR to a TF

In Europe they used to have a small Rover called 200 BRM, the base for the MGZR. This car used to have the limited slip differential. These cars are highly sought after just to use the gear box and put it into an MGF or TF. For driving experience it should be a huge upgrade and really worthwhile. Ha...
