No 3 is definitely the gauge (blue or black) sender unit failing - a cheap and easy fix by replacement.

It can also be an indicator of a problem with a water pump.

Do not use them if the seat is different, the last thing you want is to loose your nuts.....

The MG ZT has drum inside disk rear brakes.

This is just an idea but would disconnecting the battery and then using the key in the door lock work? As there is no power in the system then the central looking will not relock the door.
