Re: MGF Suspension/handling problem
I am ditching the Suplex system on N31SPB. Have a set of refurbished spheres instead. Does anyone know the stock spacer sizes front & rear? I had to order new springs & spacers as after a couple of moves since installing Suplex, I could not locate them. The NAM9013 springs may have even gone back wi...

Re: Hydragas (hydrogas) rebuild / remanufacturing
Thanks for the link to your dissection thread Rob. Unfortunately, Mr Moulton is no longer with us and Dunlop are unlikely to be helpful. I found it interesting that towards the end of the dissection thread, the topic veered off into air suspension. That is an approach I had not thought of and there ...

Hydragas (hydrogas) rebuild / remanufacturing
Ok folks, I have run the Suplex kit on my N plate MGF for about 300 miles now and my conclusion is that it is ok as a stop gap solution but that is about it. I read a post somewhere that given the inherent leverage in the MGF suspension it is technically impossible to engineer such a coil spring in ...

MGF value - scrappage trend - hold on to them
A quick check of sites such as "how many left" shows that the numbers of MGF's left is still declining. Just want to remind everyone across the pond that as of this autumn it will be only four more years until the N plate cars are USA importable. Try to convince everyone you know to hold on to their...

Giving Suplex a try
With my 1995 MGF riding as low as 300mm in the right rear, I decided to give Suplex a try. Well into the job and have posted photos & findings at: www.wedgeparts.com/suplex.html Has anyone else done this job? It seems to me like it would make more sense to express the turns of the adjuster from the ...

Re: Temp guage goes to three quarters when cold
Wiring looked fine. Problem went away as soon as sensor replaced. Wonky sensor internally. What an awesome list of technical articles, thanks! Have added it to my links page. Have done three LHD conversions: http://www.wedgeparts.com/mgflhd.html http://www.wedgeparts.com/mgflhd2.html http://www.wedg...

Hydragas pump up - not the liquid side!
Over here in the colonies, we have been having a discussion about pumping up our hydragas systems, but not the liquid side, rather the gas side! I have put together a summary of where we are so far: http://www.wedgeparts.com/hydragas.html Wondering how many people across the pond have attempted this...

Re: Temp guage goes to three quarters when cold
I would replace the sensor as the first step automatically. The gauge on my 1995 MGF, vin AD000332, would bounce around like a yo-yo as soon as the engine started and sometimes peg to hot. Car seemed to run fine. Replaced the sensor and all appears well. It is the blue sensor, YCB100420 and a new se...

EJU100242 & SYC100810
Folks, Any interest in getting EJU100242 or SYC100810 reproduced? EJU100242 is the rubber finisher at the top rear of the door on the right side. I have one new sample and nowhere seems to have any more stock. Two of my 1995 MGFs are both missing them on the right side, but present on the left. This...

Alternative engines
Does anyone know which engines from other car makes will bolt up to the MGF PG1 gearbox? My research indicates perhaps some Honda units and even possibly Audi/VW units might work? Nothing wrong with the K series - not wanting to start that debate. I am hoping to find an engine that will bolt up and ...

Re: 1995 MGF VIN 000256
Hi Phil, This is Brad, the owner of 257. I have actually swapped the seats and door cards back to the original red trim as a friend of mine wanted the interior in the photos. Unfortunately someone in the UK put a different plate on the car, KUI5597 which I believe is a plate out of Ireland? I would ...

Re: sticking clutch pedal
Yeah, that sucks. It happened to me on that white car but was able to drill out and retap. Not sure if you have the product in photo in Germany but it is awesome because it comes out as a thick foam so one can spray into that box section via the corner hole and when the foam turns to liquid it cover...

Re: sticking clutch pedal
Thanks Mykel. Yes, I do have a lift. As can be seen from the photo it is the asymmetric type so not sure if removing weight from the back will be an issue since the back of the car has way more over hang than the front? I could of course reverse the car on to the lift which is nicer from the point o...

Re: sticking clutch pedal
Been reading the threads about the infamous sticking clutch pedal issue which I now have cropping up intermittently on my 1995 MGF with approx 137k miles. I replaced the slave cylinder a couple of years ago and am wondering if I should replace the master before assuming it is the release arm issue? ...

Re: Long distance drive cooling problem
Yes, I wondered about the cap. I had this type of boiling happen on another F after a just a few miles on the motorway in Nashville. That car had a brand new cap from Rimmers! Replaced it as well as vacuum bled the system and that car now seems ok, although there are signs of a radiator leak so I sh...

Long distance drive cooling problem
Drove my 1996 MGF (non VVC) on a long journey Saturday and encountered cooling system issues during trip. Started from Nashville TN and drove about 300 miles to past Cincinnati before problems started to occur. Two issues: EPAS system stated to pull left. Removed fuse to reset and it was ok for a bi...

Re: Instrument binnacles & brake bleeders
With regard to the colour question, forgive us on this side of the pond for being a little behind the times as we have not yet seen cars that new! It is a very good point though and I will ask the molder about it. I am sure they can do it but we will likely incur extra setup charges. Does anyone hav...

Re: Instrument binnacles & brake bleeders
Ok, I have a quotation back from the molder and if we do a run of five hundred binnacles the project will be viable at the $49.99 retail price. They can also reinforce the mounting tabs to hopefully reduce the chances of future breakage. I am not sure about the "rivnut" fixing method yet which would...

routing of ABS sensor leads
Hi: I have just added ABS to a 1996 MGF. Does anyone have any photos of how the ABS leads are routed around moving suspension parts? Especially in the rear. I know I need to order the retaining plates that attach to the hydragas unit clamping plates but what about below that? Thanks, Brad www.mgfcar...

Re: Instrument binnacles & brake bleeders
Here is where we stand with these two projects: Motive need a reservoir as well as the cap I sent them in order to further evaluate whether they can make their product work for our cars. Reservoirs appear to be on backorder and given they do not turn to powder like the TR7 ones I don't see an immedi...
