Re: MGF 1998 FAN RESISTORS
I have cut a cardboard template to see if you can fit the resistor pack on the motor side of the heater unit. It is very, very tight, as you can see from the photo. I've trimmed the template as much as I dare to, but the mount cut out will be right on the edge. One might be able to remove a millimet...

Re: MGF 1998 FAN RESISTORS
Rob, Having given it some further thought, it's probably not impossible to do BUT do you want to cut a hole in the driver's side with it all installed. Driver seat out, crash helmet on and very flexible body. A soldering iron to burn a hole may be the way to go. Make an alloy template to the resisto...

Re: MGF 1998 FAN RESISTORS
I don't think it's do-able from what I see. I attach photos of both sides of the fan enclosure.

Re: MGF 1998 FAN RESISTORS
Hi James, I don't think it's a good idea to have the resistors outside of the cooling duct. The original pack of resistors will glow like toaster elements when not in the airflow of the heater unit. A lot of heat is generated across the resistor pack. As an afterthought. The heat generated though th...

Re: MGF20 Time Line cars
Hi Adrian, I read your reply as needing a car that was built in 2006. Presumably from unfinished cars when MGR closed its doors and there were cars built under the control of the administrators into 2006. Otherwise this springs to mind:- "I know that you believe that you understand what you think I ...

Hi Adrian, My TF135 (Firefrost) was first registered in 2006. If you are interested I can be there "bright & early" - well "early" , anyway. Jacquie and I are stopping at the Premier Inn,Warwick for 3 nights , so not far to travel. What times are we talking about? Looking forward to meeting lo...

Re: which tyres ?
Hi Colin, Interesting comment re insurance. There must be many Fs and TFs shod with rubber other than the latest recommendations. However, it does state "recommnended" not compulsory. Maybe a phone call to one's insurers wouldn't go amiss. My TF was shod with Continentals from the factory. I put Toy...

Re: which tyres ?
Some more to consider. One of our local club members has recently bought an LE500 which had a mishmash of tyres fitted when he bought it. As we all know the handling was awful. He has now fitted these tyres:- BARUM BRAVURIS 3 HM, Front 195/45 R16 V XL. Rear 215/40 ZR16. Treadwear 360, Traction A, Te...

Re: MGF 1998 FAN RESISTORS
Hi Kev, You need to remove the solid pipe coming down from the air inlet. This goes into the fan housing. The resistor pack will be seen just above the opening into the blower housing. Disconnect the plug and remove the resistor pack by undoing the two screws. The broken resistor wire(s) will be cle...

NEW FOREST RUN - 7th JUNE
Hi guys, Anyone on here going to the Southampton and New Forest run on the 7th June. Jacquie and I with 6 other MGs from Jersey are over for the weekend and attending the run. Might see some of you there. We will also be at the skittles night on Saturday the 6th. Mind you, if Condor's new ferry (Lib...

Hi Clive,
I think your model still has a distributor. If I am correct then this is more likely your problem. Get a new dizzy cap and rotor.

Re: 75th Anniversary Model..... the rescue thread ......
Hi Plezier, Nice to see someone else using Bilt Hamber's Deox-C. Brilliant stuff. I found out the expensive way not use too high a strength to remove rust. I have used 1 kilo to 25 litres of water when I de-rusted my wire wheels on my MGB. The solution goes a long way if you rinse off the rust outsi...

Hi Charles,

Hi Charles,
Yep! I'm still around. Happy to build if "billoddy" wants one. Keeps me off the street corners. Over in June for the New Forest run - with a few others from Jersey. Will you be around?

Hi Adam, I build to order. I'm waiting for more parts from RS but some of the parts are still back ordered. Iv'e got 3 on order at the moment. It would be a few weeks delivery assuming I get the parts fairly soon. You are looking at around £60-00 delivered UK. If you give me your e-mail address I ca...
