Anyone know M33 LSK?

'cos if it's you, not only is your numberplate spaced like a twonk, your brakelights aren't working - so it wasn't a psycho in a Transit chasing you, I was trying to draw attention to the fact that your car is broken. (Brakelight switch - flickering/flashing, brakelights on all the time which is arg...

Re: So I Don't Think Its HGF? Can Anyone Confirm?

the PAS warning light came on and steering became very heavy comparatively, a power cycle by disconnecting/reconnecting battery sorted it out though. Was that when warming it up? If that's the case, it should reset when it gets a speed signal - if the engine is revved for more than 30 seconds witho...

Re: Hello from a stray MGF and home it found!

As to the ht leads on a VVC, it is a real pita to get them routed properly. Some areas under the manifold can only be reached by elves with at least 3 elbow joints I suppose. ;) I used to work on hydropneumatic Citroëns and I'm a fussy bugger when it comes to things being "right". The VVC's lead ro...

Re: MG TF Hard Top (BRG)

Here's another bump - though I've got a beady eye on this, I don't want to spend £250 on a hardtop (particularly when I've seen black ones going for nearer £150) but if I can push my budget nearer it's nearby and the same colour as my car at least.

Re: WTD: Coolant heat shield & bolts/fixings

Got this and fitted it, dead easy (not what I was expecting from Millie) - there's a sort of blanking cover they'd held in place with one bolt and nut which I'd anticipated being a real git to remove, but everything has gone in as I believe it should - two 15mm bolts from bellhousing, blanking plate...

Re: Squealing alternator belt

It's as quick to say how as it is to say "search", but I'd search anyway to find pictures. Basically it's easy as long as everything is free to undo. There's a tensioner nut - 8mm if I recall - underneath, so slacken off the two supports (pivot and adjuster), then tighten with the 8mm before locking...

Re: Sell it or fix it... Clutch...

That does sound very release arm. Lifting the pedal with your foot should make ****** all difference if it is. Edit: Have you seen 'sticking clutch pedal' thread on Technical? Worth a go. I'm going to drip some 3-in-1 down the arm and leave it whilst I fit the heatshield and leads. I have tried to ...

Re: Hard top fitting

I happen to have a hard top for sale in BRG if that's your colour? Also - be aware that the rear brackets may be attached to the wrong sides of the car and may need swapping if you find the roof doesnt fit properly. 5 min job so nothing to worry about! If the Viscount doesn't want it (red MGF, gree...

Re: Sell it or fix it... Clutch...

Just decided to go take the engine cover off in prep for new leads/coolant heatshield fitting (I need to work out where the VVC HT leads go - I've found one guide, under the inlet manifold, but from Rimmer's catalogue I think I might be missing one. Still, one's better than none) and have a prod of ...

Re: Sell it or fix it... Clutch...

If I find an excellent garage anywhere, I will be delighted. 135 cars, new & old, and I have slightly more faith in religion than I do in actually getting fair good quality work for a fair price. Or indeed, a massive rip off price - if anything, the more expensive the work, the less competent the te...

Re: Sell it or fix it... Clutch...

Well, I've offered it on Retrorides at £850, taxed and with the luggage rack, but the clutch thing will probably put people off and it's "typical", not mint - clear back window but slightly shabby roof, would obviously benefit from the subframe/arm tidying that a 15 year old car would need. People s...

Sell it or fix it... Clutch...

I suppose it was inevitable - I'm not allowed a straightforward thing! Millie's got new HT leads on the way, and will be getting new plugs, the coolant heatshield refitted... I went for a drive out, 14 miles, bit of slip when cold which has been suggested might be the release arm... seemed fine on t...

Charless, don't be mean. Everyone knows an offset dowel is a dowel that you're going to be invoiced for later to put it into a following quarter or year's accounts.

WTD: Coolant heat shield & bolts/fixings

I took a look at John's breaker and can clearly see I'm missing a lot of bits; so I am putting this out here, will almost certainly buy the bits off John if he can spare them all but the bolts were a question when I was picking up other bits! I need the coolant heatshield, brackets and bolts for an ...

Re: Hardtop, Heated Screen, Tonequae Cover

I've been looking for a hardtop - based on past classifieds, really aiming to spend £150 on one. Silver wouldn't have been my first choice (want black), but can always swap later. I also want a handbook/folder, but want one for early MGF, not the later white one I keep seeing. Got a switch and relay...
