Re: interior colour Light Tan and wood

More than happy to be corrected on such matters by your good self Adrian :D

Happy about it tbh- my chances of finding a decent SUR binnacle cowl have just doubled! :thumbsu:

Re: interior colour Light Tan and wood

As a further idea, have a word with "Sniperpenguin" on here- he's able to supply the correct tan seat belts- I've seen them on Dave's car from the Herts region and they look really smart. If you want to go even further, Allhoods of Romford will make you a new soft top and line the inside of it with ...

Re: interior colour Light Tan and wood

At MG90 there was a beautiful bronze colour MGTF with tan interior entered into the pride of ownership- the owner completed the car only the night before and some of the interior parts were painted in tan with a gloss roller...the finish looked spot on to me. I think it's a balancing act getting tan...

Re: interior colour Light Tan and wood

The interior colour code for the light tan of a TF is "SUR"- only 94 cars made with that trim code- definitely lighter than the F tan.

I've been after a SUR tan binnacle cover- rarer than hens teeth.

Re: Car covers - which is best?

You can get waterproof breathable covers. Check out the Moltex range on the MGCC website http://www.mgcc.co.uk/shop/product/moltex-outdoor-car-cover/ My car lives under one of these covers- it's not the cheapest but i reckon it is the best one to buy- fits really well. It gets a wash once a year in...

Re: Sluggish Radiator Fan

I recently had the exact same problem. At the front of the engine centre left and about six inches down is the coolant temp sensor- unplug that and the fan should kick in immediately- that'll test the fan function. Sounds like new coolant sensor to me. Symptoms are the the temp gauge creeps up in sl...

Re: New owner, Herts area

Hello Lee Welcome to the forum! Get yourself down to The Plough in Crews Hill on the first Monday of every month- a very active and friendly Herts & North London region meet there from 7pm onwards. Ah, a '99 Tahiti blue and crème MGF... happy memories as my first F was that combo too! Enjoy it to th...

Re: August Events

Hi Dave,

Hope you're well (and all the H&NL group too!)

See you at MGF20- apologies for non- attendance of late to the monthly meets, just been doing crazy hours at work this year and by the time I get home especially on a Monday, Tues and Weds it's difficult for me to attend.

Kindest,

Re: Drivers door handle replacement.

the worst bit is the contortion required to reconnect the rod that connects the handle with the latch mechanism- all done blind through a hole that's barely big enough to fit your hand through...took ages and many colourful swear words to complete.

Re: soft top removal ?

Really straightforward- release the 5/6 clips you've identified at the back edge and fold the the roof down, move and tilt both of the seats forward and remove the 3 Phillips head screws in the T Bar (housed in the stud fittings that the tonneau cover clips to)- then carefully pull at the edges of t...

I kinda agree- 800+ pages and frustratingly the information you need is in there somewhere but the index is too general and the page numbers non existent.

Re: Overheating!

As a further thought though Rob, maybe it's lucky that the weak spot in the system was the thermostat housing- in retrospect, much better that gives up the ghost that the head gasket ay?

Re: Overheating!

On the open road Rob. Picked the car up first thing this morning and all is well. What definitely caused the overheating was the thermostat and the housing. The old thermostat I've had in a boiling pan of water on the hob and then into a cold glass of water- definitely not opening and closing. Looki...

Re: car spraying n/w

£1000 does sound a lot, but a paintshop sees it differently. They price jobs per panel, so 4x wings to be painted definitely, possibly the doors too or they may just try and blend it in along the doors- then they'll also have to do the entire sills too as there's no obvious panel break between the r...

kingy- I agree it's weird to dump the coolant and actually have the coolant in the tank rise- had the exact same occurrence this weekend- traced back to a stuck thermostat.

Luckily I caught it in time and no lasting damage done...'cept £36 for a new 'stat

Overheating!

My TF seldom misses a beat but had a very strange overheating occurrence at the weekend whereby it dumped the coolant and yet the coolant in the reservoir was brimming and it vented through the cap. As the level didn't drop appear to drop, the low level alarm wasn't activated. Fortunately I caught i...
