Re: Red MGF with BLACK ALLOYS??

Google on "alloy wheel refinishers" in your area??

Powder coating is the best finish. Expect to pay about £50-80 per wheel

Re: Lever to change headlight settings for LHD country

I have a feeling the nearside lever has not moved musch -if at all.I might get the hedlamp unit off this weekend to have a closer look inside.

Just checking as per above - both levers should be set to the the offside (ie Right hand or uk drivers side) when abroad?

Thanks to all

Re: Lever to change headlight settings for LHD country

Seems a very flimsily engineered system to me, but I managed to do the above with a bent screwdriver - the nearside lamp was trickier to access than the off. My sole complaint is that the detent positions are not obvious so I will rely on feedback from my French fellow travellers: if I get flashed a...

how do i get the gearknob and gaitor off?

The knob should just unscrew but if you have an aftermarket one fitted there might be a nut underneath to hold it in position. Pull down the leather to check. The gaiter assembly simply unclips from the console

Lever to change headlight settings for LHD country

Hi all, I have an 04 TF and the handbook tells me there is a lever inside the dipped beam bulb housing which will switch dipped beam from left kerb to right and therefore allow Continental travelling without hassle. I cannot find this lever. Anybody else found this feature missing from their car? On...

Re: What's hidden behind your petrol tank bulkhead panel?

Well they can get it wrong sometimes. In 2001 I was taking my wife and son for a jaunt around Northern France in a new V8 S-type I had just taken delivery of. We were stopped on the way OUT not on return. They turned that car over to the degree they were shoving endoscopes under the upholstery and s...

Re: TF rear hub - trailing arm holes

Thanks!

To be honest all i do is keep it clean - and avoid snow or mud! I appreciate there are people out there who will burnish and polish the oily bits, but for me Im just trying to keep the thing looking good with honest soap and water.

Re: TF rear hub - trailing arm holes

Interesting comments! I have only had the TF for 6 weeks and it is an 04 vintage car with 28,000 on the clock, a mileage I know to be genuine. And yet even though the bodyshell is perfectly sound, the suspension components in the hub area are covered in crud, old brake dust, corrosion and general mu...

Misleading eBay listing?? What do people think?

Would I be alone in finding this listing misleading? Listing title: GENUINE FRONT HUB NUTS EJP7738 TO FIT ROVER 200 MG ZR ( RF ) MGF MGTF Picture: http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii26/raytrendy/hubnuts.jpg Given the plural in the title, together with the photo of four nuts, would anyone else be s...

Re: TF rear hub - trailing arm holes

All sorted. As you suggest, it is impossible to run a tap into the holes from the opposite end to which they screw - whilst in situ, access to the top hole is blocked by the drive shaft coupling, and as suggested above the horizontal hole is not drilled fully through (below): http://i260.photobucket...

Re: Which Oil

For what it is worth there is a huge amount of similar correspondence over on the TVR Pistonheads site. TVR owners get anal over buying Mobil One and have been known to form queues outside French hypermarkets just to buy it. My own Chimaera chugs along very nicely on Vauxhall's factory 5W-30 fully s...

Re: TF rear hub - trailing arm holes

Thanks v much. I will dismantle the thing this weekend and have a close look. I might even have the right bolts in stock. Any TVR owner (like me) usually has a supply of cup head 12.9 bolts in store. On the Chimaera and Griffith the rear caliper carriers are Sierra Cosworth units bolted by 12.9 cup ...

Re: TF rear hub - trailing arm holes

Thanks Bandit. I shall take the disk off anyway but it would be good to know if both holes are blind. Do you use socket cap head bolts (Allen key type)? I note that 12.9 hex head are very hard to find.

TF rear hub - trailing arm holes

Hi all, I'm just finishing off a timing belt change and mega-major service on my TF which stood in a shed for a year before I bought it in late 2011. When I took the RH trailing arm off the car to get to the engine mounting I noticed that there was a significant amount of corrosion and old Loctite o...

Re: Problems unbolting RH engine mount

Am I alone in wondering why the mounting is designed so the engine hangs from the mount, and is effectively held in place by the strength of two large threaded bolts which do not even have nuts at the lower end? Seems daft engineering to me - an echo of the MGs and Triumphs of old**. I would have th...

Re: MGF won't start

I agree with Rob, but would recommend a battery conditioner which is designed to be left connected all the time the car is parked up. It only provides a charge when iits circuitry senses the battery needs it. A cheap charger will pump power into your battery constantly with the risk of overheating a...
