Re: MGF Engine Milage
I've just reached 150k km with my 99 made MGF respecting most of what Stuart said already. We've got a special thread with high milages here http://www.mgfregister.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=746 Not any problem with the engine since 13 years. First head gasket, no hose blown, nothing. Some minor ...

He bought stocks from former workshops. Pricing is really steep, though. Reliable seller on the other hand.

Re: Can You Guess How Many Miles on the HTR ?
2,600 miles (just to say more) and 1,500miles on the lap of honour. We had two runs that weekend in Germany. I've tracked Saturday in total and sunday only a part of. Friday was a short of 60 miles only.(Not recorded with satnav) Saturday http://www.mgfcar.de/event/2012_Niederrhein/tour_saturday.JPG...

Re: Speaker polarity
To make matters worse, I don't know whether ther is any norm about the direction of cone movement across different brands of speakers, so positive = cone out may be cone in on another brand. But as said, I am not sure about this. It is. All are cone out with positive signal. An easy test is using a...

Hi, some use it already hopefully with low demand :thumbsu: Just stored in the glove box when travelling abroad. Here we are with latest edition 01.08.2012 of the incredible MG Workshop list for the German speaking countries and a few in Italy. Includes former MGR approved companies (marked with *ZD...

Re: Speaker polarity
Hi Brad, polarity of speakers is anyway as long as both are connected VE+ VE- equal. Lets say, you use the both left connections at the speakers for VE+ Look at the wire colours. They should be bi-colour. Yellow-pink and orange-pink for the VE+ Yello-black and orange-black for the VE- http://www.mgf...

Re: MGF Vin #258 for sale on eBay
Just to add a bit more to 258 - it was one of the cars sold off in the MGF Closed auction held at the Heritage Motor Centre on 10th June 1996. This was the first sale of "used" MGFs and was important in setting the value of secondhand modelsfor the future. Original engine number was 9427 and it was...

btw, never heard of KTC1006 . Assume Rimmers supplied that in error, cause the very first at MGF was p/n KTC10016. Superceeded by the following..
The correct parts now are KTC100250 for Trophy or KTC000040 for all the other !

Rust may have blocked the clutch damper. (may be, may be I'm wrong)
That's why they dropped that thing back in 1998. Published to MGR Workshops with an official bulletin.

I'd recommend to check whether the rubber bush is installed below the large washer.

Re: Header tank return
Mind you , there are two jiggle valves to prevent from air locks in the coolant system. One is the already mentioned. The second one is located near the cam belt cover. Just follow the small hose connected to the expansion tank. Or see the design of hose #7 in the EPC here http://www.mgfcar.de/epc/1...

Hi,
just got aware of the now fixed new rules for carrying this item with you when going to France:

Dooh, I'm surprised this time it's not the Germans who founded new stuff for motoring![Thumbs Up :thumbsu:](./images/smilies/afro.gif)

PS. mine failed TUV this year due to a worn wheel bearing. Wasn't sensitive enough myself
to realise it before I joined them. Now fixed of course.

Re: Overheating
Hi, well known ? I think so :sf: Three letters HGF stand for head gasket failure. You should not have just refilled the expansion tank without having found the reason for the boiling coolant. See as well: http://www.mgfcar.de/hgf/index.html First of all: Check the fuses for the fans in the front bon...

Re: Bought another MGf
Hi, number plate J18MGF is known in the MGF data base from another MGF with VIN 2944. What's the VIN of this green coloured ? As for the lock set I think it may be worth looking at breakers for a complete barrel set. The immobilizer is no problem at all cause up to four blippers can get added with t...

Re: Intermittent immobiliser buzzer sound: what does it mean
Rob, from memory that intermittent noise is standard at the MGF I owned. I believe my VIN 5192 had this already, and the current 509000ish for sure. Isn't the buzzer included inside the MFU ? If applicable, there was a change at AD005654 (and my above guess would be wrong about the 5192) See pic at ...
