Cut the door panel and made up the inner plate for the rear, re welded and trial fitted.

Hi Guys, had a bit of time this evening to cut and grind lower panel welds, came out really well. trial fitted and clamped in place. Lines up really well on outer and inner edge, taped top section in place and measured length, needs to be 41 inch long as removable section will be placed in boot when...

Had a look at the outer skin, decided to try and mig outer skin to the new top support. took another 3mm off outer panel, trial fitted and taped in place, took off and migged all way down, did 3cm lengths and stitched together. Returned from Germany at Lunch time, was up at 02:30 am but still couldn't resist a bit of welding tonight. Hi Kev, let me know when you have made up the inner section, for the outer I went to a local scrap yard and had the rear lower sections cut off a scrap car that wasn't rusted, worked quite well, once you have all your bits made let me know and we can meet up one Saturday for a day of migging.

HI Kev, mine was exactly the same, first you have to make up and weld inner olate at the lowest point on the sill curve, once you have an inner plate made then outer can fix on, My welder is a sealy mighty mig, have setting switch on one and dial on 4 or 5, Try lower settings, if no joy will see if ...

Made up a blanking plate and migged to front door panel at the door handle recess.
Steel is very thin must be around 0.75 mm thick, fun to mig

Hi All,
Started having some fun with a new door as fancy a change
Top panel will be hinged and fold downward, also be on removable pins for warm weather, was a bitch to cut and hand bend.

Love the look of the lotus engine bay, Been drawing a Twin turbo system with split exhaust manifold and split plenum chamber with twin 52tb system. Will post drawings tonight but its a bit extreme, would have to lose the whole boot floor and part of the bulkhead, and redesign the Boot lid and rear l...
