The age old tyre subject

Hi All, Been a while since I've been on here so hope you're all well. Bringing up the age old conversation of what tyres to fit on my TF. Looking at a complete set of .....something. Was originally looking at Toyo T1R's due to the similar directional treat pattern to that of the Goodyear GSD 2/3 to ...

Re: Inlet manifold Water Air bleed.

Sorry about the delay, I've been messing around with the thing all blooming week. I think I've found the source. Your right the oil cooler does have quite small gallieries, note to self, don't use rad weld. It had partly blocked the oil cooler, and also the jiggle valve on the inlet side. I think th...

Re: Inlet manifold Water Air bleed.

Hi Rob, Many thanks for the reply. Whilst out I lowered the fan temp set point and was kicking in fine, also the case with the bay fan. It's a 2002 so no PRT, the thermostat is located in the block housing, and is a complete pig to get to, but I'm thinking maybe worth changing it, has to be. Radiato...

Inlet manifold Water Air bleed.

Hi All, Went for a blast last weekend, and oddly I started to overheat. The water temperature was fine until you dropped to around 35-40mph then it started to creep up, dip the clutch, rev it and it dropped back down and wouldn't happen again for around 10-15 mins. I've narrowed it down to a few pos...

Re: Head Gasket troubles...advice needed

Hi, I've fitted, and have known many people to fit MLS Shim gaskets and have slight water leaks around the head, some seal and some don't. I actually got pig sick of mine leaking and resorted to the standard type gasket. Teaching you to suck eggs here but tightened in sequence starting from 15lbft +...

Re: Immobiliser issue - engine will not start

Hi Les, Due to this being security if you PM me I can try and help you out with wire colours and pin out's, there is only one cable that goes back to the ECM however there are multiple inputs that go back to your 5AS unit, some of which might well be missing on your elise, so therefore won't issue t...

Re: MGF AP Four Pot Brake upgrade on a MK2 F Steptronic

I have to agree, something really isn't right. I've asked him to bring the car round when the weather clears up for a look. I have seen the car before and they are genuine trophy wheels, and have MG Rover in the spoke casting is what I'm told. Something can't be right with the disc/caliper fitment, ...

MGF AP Four Pot Brake upgrade on a MK2 F Steptronic

Hi All, Just come of the phone to a friend of mine, who has recently had his front brakes upgraded to AP 4 Pot's, so therefore has fitted the original trophy wheels. However he tells me that to get the wheels to fit, he's had to have wheel spacers fitted to accomodate the brakes? 10mm in total. I kn...

PG1 gearbox reverse idle gear

Hi all, Does anyone know where I can get a reverse idler gear for a pg1 gearbox. The original box is from a mgf vvc, and whilst I have it apart im going to put new bearings and seals in, also under further investigation I've noticed the idler gear is quite worn so would like to replace this also. An...

Have you got a drop box account or an ftp site of some description? I could send it you maybe?

Go Pro Action Camera's

Hi All, This weekend saw the TF out of the cotton wool for the first time this year, so thought I'd sample the new toy I had for crimbo off the other half. To look at these camera's don't look capable of what they actually achieve but they really are a fantastic bit of kit. Mines a HD Hero 2 and the...

Hi All, MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all, hope you all have a great break and a fantastic new year. Re: The good news is....

Have you got the signs of head gasket failure? Oil in water, Muller rice in the oil, and or water? pressurised water system ( rock hard coolant pipes ) with the expansion bottle on of course? and when you drive, does it steam a lot when hot, representing something of a traction engine? if so then pr...

Hi Paul,

I also have a map for Plenum setup with a ported head, as Quick spider mentions, what injectors are you running? color wise? I'd also recommend Dave walker, if you want the best from your system.

Re: Cause for concern?

Hi there, When I first had my TF I did used to have a similar problem, and what I found it to be is the Emitions out of tollerance on the post cat lambda, or in english, its nothing to worry about, all it is, is a rich reading going to the ecu as bearing in mind when you pulled away it would be on c...

Re: Are all MEMS3 ECUs made equal?

This is where I'm currently at, All prototype at the mo, a lot of trial and error but slowly getting there. As I mentioned these are the earlier individual bodies, and have been spaced to match as close as possible the inlet manifold. When complete the manifold used will be the alloy type, with flan...

Re: Are all MEMS3 ECUs made equal?

I'll see if I can sort some for the weekend definatly, I'm sure you'll especially like the pennys used to block the injector ports, which were in when I brought them! If you do need things making, if you pay for the material via ebay or whatever I have no problem doing the machining, and or fabricat...

Re: Are all MEMS3 ECUs made equal?

Current stage is the plastic manifold, but have to be honest, think it looks a little rough, which is what i intended as its just to get spacing and give a rough idea, probably would work, and definatly could be done better, certainly worth a blast first out I think, what have you got to loose after...

That would be great, thank you.

Has to be a way round it, didn't grow like it, however it seems the materials are mined by pixies judging by their expense lol.
