Have you checked the compliance bushes. They are at the front corners of the rear subframe and connect it to the lower rear arm.

Hi Just a word of warning for those attending tonight, the road into Shardlow from the Castle Donnington end has been dug up ready for resurfacing. There are some raised grates but it is in the 30 mph area, just take it easy. Pete

Hi Keith I have a draper camshaft holding tool (for ford zetec, shh don't tell anybody) similar to the ones in your first post. If you want to borrow it i will bring it along to MG Live for you. It works on the front camshaft pulleys but don't know about the vvc unit as i havn't worked on those. Pete

Coil packs can play up and lead to intermittent loss of power/misfires. Not sure if it registers as a fault but did not put the engine warning light on when it happened to mine.
