Re: raw data for MGF trip computer
This is looking really interesting, well done so far. Can you help me with a couple of things? 1 I presume the engine speed signal has been taken from the ECU or is it from the tachometer? 2 Similarly I note the car speed is from the MGF speedo. How many pulses/mile(or km) are provided by the speedo...

Re: Wheel alignment advice needed
Did you get the EPAS left bias adjusted? There's loads of info on the bias being askew due to the EPAS torque sensor needing adjustment.

I don't think it did...when I looked it was shown as 'out of stock' which I think means it was sold before time was up.David Dixon wrote:Wow...went for £332.
Don't worry though guys, I have one, with fittings, to put on eBay asap! ...or offers over £200?
(No longer have an F or TF to put it on)

Re: Should my Mgtf have central locking
As I understand it the later MkII F is electrically the same as an early TF, ie pre 2003/4, non-Pektron Fob model.
I don't know any more than that, sorry.

Re: Should my Mgtf have central locking
It'll be a 115 then with no central locking.
However having said that I believe some 1600 Special Editions, which MGR did every year to boost sales, did have equipment from other models. If, say, it was a Spark or Sunstorm for example.

Re: Should my Mgtf have central locking
The only TFs that didn't have central locking are the TF 115 1600. If yours is a 135 and with an 1800 engine then it should have it.
I don't think any TFs had a passenger key lock on the door.

Electronic Speedometer Pulses/Mile?
I'm wanting to fit a TF gearbox electronic speedo sensor to another car and I need to know how many pulses per mile the TF sensor produces.
Can anyone help?

When travelling on ferries I lock the car with the key and not the fob. This deactivates the alarm.

It's available from the usual MG specialists such as Rimmer Bros but is expensive. It can also be bought from BMW MINI dealers but at elevated BMW gold plated prices! (The early BMW MINI autos used the same CVT gearbox as MGRover.) I have some left over from a 20 litre drum I bought from BMW when I ...

Sorry Dave, I can't help.
My spare 1.8 160 engine that is sat on my workshop bench has hex bolts! I bought a small set of star sockets many years ago, but that still doesn't help you...

Re: mgf died
I'd guess it's the alternator which caused the battery to go flat. Don't change the battery without checking the alternator output first.

Eurocarparts are good value if you buy online (and pick up from a local depot or home delivery) and use one of their discount codes. I last paid about £110.

I've been following your build with much admiration as the quality of the build is excellent. Well done.

Re: Hydraulic tappets cleaned now won't start
Did you correctly position the camshaft pegs in the correct slots in their respective cam pulleys? [The inlet cam peg and inlet cam pulley slot should both be at 4 o'clock and exhaust peg and cam pulley slot at 8 o'clock. With those in the right positions set the camshaft alignment lines and lock wi...

I think the rotary coupler is made up of many individual coiled wires so I assume just because one is OK doesn't mean another is too!

How long does it run for?
If only a few seconds then it could be the immobiliser playing games.

I suggest ebay for the parts or MGFnTFbitz in Glossop.
Access to get it off will be from both the top and the bottom.
