I wonder if the brown water temp sensor has packed up and the ecu cannot tell the water is warm.

When I had a smilar problem I found that the cup of rusty water in the motor was affecting the performance ;) I found another motor at a breakers and it was fixed. aAs an aside I took along the required Torx key and checked the motor oat the breakers. Mine is fubared too.
I jump-started the car last week after leaving the lights on (doh) and now it wont play ball I have checked all of the connections and now I am waiting for my replacement ecu.
