The weekend has started well with a good first day on Friday. The run up from Leamington to Donington in a 4 car convoy was shear pleasure in the morning sunshine. We had 6 cars on the stand yesterday, one more than expected and the morning was hot and sunny! Shocking that we were removing layers not adding them. Many of the car club stands were quiet as it was still a 'work day' for most but we had a good show of cars. We have another good position for the stand, a little too tempting though with the food and drink stalls directly in front of us. JanT had the pleasure of driving the parade lap in her TF at lunch time. The afternoon was cooler especially when the sun went in but the racing was good. We chickened out on camping this year and the b&b a few of us are in is a very good standard and only a stones throw from the circuit. The local pub looked after us well last night too.

This morning, there is a little rain on the b&b windows at the moment, but at least the gazebo is up and ready for us today. We should have a larger number of cars on the stand today and hopefully, the MGCC stand along side us will be fuller today as well.

Some good racing on Saturday, we had to shelter in the gazebo mid morning, but the weather came good later.
Hope you all have a good day on Sunday. 8-)

What difference a day makes. Back home and now and a nice shade of pink after a day in the glorious sun.
Unfortunately is was an early and sad end to the weekend when the last 2 races were cancelled following an accident in the Pre-66 Touring car race.
Donington Historic Festival Statement: It is with great regret that the directors of Donington Park Racing Limited, operators of Donington Park Circuit, have to report that, following an accident in a race for historic touring cars held as part of the race meeting taking place on Sunday 5th May, the driver of car number 67 (a 1965 Mini Cooper S), Christian Devereux of Chiswick, London succumbed to the injuries sustained at approximately 16.30 hours.

The organising race club, HSCC and Donington Park Racing Limited, together with the circuit’s medical and emergency services, will now be co-operating with both the Leicestershire Police and motorsport’s Governing Body, the Motor Sports Association, in order to determine the cause of this tragic accident.

It is real sad to hear the news about the driver. It was not looking good as race meetings only ever get cancelled like that if the news is bad.
Such a sad way to end such an exciting event. The Register's thoughts and condolences are with the drivers family and the race organisers.

A very sad end to the weekend. We are constantly reminded Motorsport can be dangerous but you still never expect the worse to happen.

Our thoughts and sympathies are with the driver's family, friends, fellow drivers and the HSCC.

Sad news :(

I have to say driving the TF on the circuit was very different to driving the F and I thoroughly enjoyed it ..
Great weather considering last year it was hailing !!
All in all a lovely meet, thanks Keith for organising it :thumbsu:

Shows how much these reporters actually listen
He was scribbling away the names so quickly not surprised he got things wrong but I am certain I gave him a business card with MG Car Club on so that is a very basic mistake to mix clubs up.

Picked up a copy of Classic Car Weekly this morning with the Donington picture and write up in and it had made me laugh. Will scan a copy tomorrow to post here.
Two out of the three names incorrect and the wrong club mentioned in just two lines of text, you just have to love journalists
If it is in the paper it must be true :thumbsu: So I must now go off and change my name to Kenneth as I have been using the wrong name up to now

Considering the number of classic car clubs there, we were lucky to get a picture/write up in their double page spread. Just a pity they got the details wrong :)
