Do we get confirmation that our car details are recorded for the run, I would hate to not be allowed through on the night ?
Hi Andy. You are registered on the run OK and will get a receipt via the online shop from me in confirmation. The last time this event was run, I believe Dave Tynan posted out an entry ticket to each registered car that could be shown on the night to confirm your registration and allow you to pick up your rally plaque if ordered from the start point.
Hi all,
As we are running it at zero cost I will be emailing conformations for entry for you to print & bring on the night.
If you would like a posted version of the form then you will need to send me an SAE.
Further details inc my address will be in the August Edition of Safety Fast! ;)
Because of commitments to 2 other events I won't start emailing conformations out until after 15th July.

Due to the popularity of the event it will only be open to MG Car Club members & members of affiliated clubs.
It is open to all models of MG, so we get a great variety vehicles!

I'm sure you will all enjoy the run, and based on entrant numbers 2 years ago it will be busy :thumbsu:
So get your entries in fast (and don't forget to bring a torch)

Dave.

You have already registered for the event and ordered a plaque about a week ago. You can always check your own online shop account via the shop site.

The closing date for this event will be around the 24th August due to the personal and vehicle details needing to be passed on prior to the night for the security check to allow access to Canary Wharf.

The run is in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and the easiest way to make your donation for the event is to use the Just Giving page which will allow Gift Aid to be added to your donation at no extra cost to yourself if you are a UK tax payer. This option is not available for any cash payments made on the night.

If you wish to join this event please register soon. You can register via the online shop. Only cars pre-registered can join the run on the night.

Hi Jon, that would be a sight to see but it's not that many. I may even take her in before the event where, I'm sure she may have made a few more by then. Great to see you and Joyce again, it's been a long time.

The planning has gone very well so far, I can confirm the loss of only two places from the 2011 running, the Bank of England and the two brick tunnels under London Bridge station.

On the good side though I feel confident this year we will be able to take the best drive in London, the Mall facing buckingham Palace.

I say confident but London changes by the week, the skyline is constantly changing as you will see but roads have an annoying habit of changing every time I go and check something.

I have simplified the route so you will not be driving so far and the turns will be less but once again it's happening, and I said I would not do another but London is so gorgeous at night and it's for charity you should try it at least once, what a better way to drive London...in the company of friends, in your MG with the hood down (hopefully) and a detailed roadbook on where to go step by step and it's for charity so if you haven't entered yet go on give it a try.

I will suggest a few things before you arrive at the start, equip yourself with a small torch, a pen, a sat-nav this will help with navigation. A full briefing for drivers and navigators will commence the evening at 18.30 but come early and hungry as Simon's Diner is an excellent place to start, he actually donates a percentage of his evening's take directly to the charity (and the food's good). Arrive early as you will want to read the comprehensive roadbook, ask questions and chat to your friends before the event starts.

All in all it's about 50 miles seeing the old, the new and the to be London all in a few hours.

Even if London is not your favourite idea, give it a try, we have quite a few cars entered already so you'll be among friends from near and afar and plenty to talk about for months, the fact that you have driven London at night keeps many a pub meet going in tales. You never know, you may learn a few things you didn't know.

Make sure everything is bolted down tight as the cobbled streets of the old Wapping Docks will shake anything loose.

We are often asked "what do I get from my membership fee ?" here's an example, a region (Anglia) and a Register (this one) working together for a members only evening so don't miss the chance to join in.

I'm finalising the roadbook at the moment. It will be a collectors item, Andy P is applying his famous graphics to the tulips and we're running it again tonight to check it realtime. It will be checked again on the Thursday or Friday prior to the night, London really does change that often.

The run will be 50 miles with only 122 manoevures this time.

Toilets etc at the beginning, middle and end if required.

Steinar is coming from Norway in his MGB so let's all give him a good welcome.

The last registration date for this event is Sunday the 25th August, so there is just two weeks to go.

We will not be able to accept any further registrations past this date, so if you intend to join the Anglia Centre and the MGF Register for this charity event, please register as soon as you can.

Nice one Paul, happy memories, although the route is different this year you highlight the roads well. If you are concerned about being stuck in traffic you will see the roads are really quite clear.

Another problem on Saturday, although we have driven the route several times fine tuning we found a new closed road that said "until further notice" so it's another way around Woolwich  .

As security is so tight around Canary Wharf, do we need to supply the details of the navigator?

What time are we meeting up at Lakeside services?

There seems to be no need for passenger details, just the car and driver details are fine.

Final details will be sent out by email by Dave shortly but the start point is Simon's Diner, at Wimbledon Stadium, Plough Lane, Wimbledon, London, SW17 0BL and cars will gather from 16:00 for a run start of around 18:30. Arrive hungry as part of the food sales will go to the charity. The run finishes at Lakeside services.

Please remember anyone else, only cars pre-booked can join the event. We can not accept any cars that just turn up on the night.

What way are you planning on coming Gary ?, maybe we could meet you on our way in and escort you. We'll be following the A13, passing Tower Bridge, the Embankment and across Battersea Bridge to the start planning on being there by 16.00.
