Donington Historic Festival: 3/4/5th May 2013

Post by Keith Williams » Wed Nov 07, 2012 7:19 pm

Just an update for advance notice for the 2013 event .......

the MGF Register is in the process of registering for a club stand again for the 2013 event, so we will shortly have the club codes available to get a very good deal on the price of the show tickets. Buy one and get one free

What’s the Festival car club package?

A two-for-one advance ticket deal. Advance tickets for the 2013 Donington Historic Festival cost £12 each for Friday, £20 for Saturday or Sunday and £36 for a three-day weekend ticket. But members of car clubs registered with us get two advance tickets for the price of one! This is a very significant saving on the on-the-gate price of £15 per ticket for Friday, £25 for Saturday or Sunday day or £45 for the 3-day weekend. And your members only pay one (modest) postage fee per booking, irrespective of how many tickets they buy.

Exclusive, free car club parking in the infield clubs’ display area. There is no charge for display space. And we do not charge a fee for clubs to register for the Festival club offer or for space in the infield. Each club is given its own dedicated, sign-posted parking area, and we work with each club – large or small - to give you the space you need.If you want to bring a marquee or two and make a big splash, we'd be delighted!

Track parades. A number of cars from car clubs that have registered with us will be invited to go out on the track and take a turn round the circuit – for many club members this was the highlight of the 2012 Festival!

Accommodation
Unfortunately, Donington Park is not offering its on-site camping this year but anyone who stayed last year will probably see this as a bonus

Camping however will be available next door - at the Donington Park Farm House Hotel! Details of camping, hotels and local B&Bs can be found here: http://www.donington-park.co.uk/about-d ... mmodation/

Good to see that the MG Car Club is joining us at Donington this year :thumbsu:

To ensure that you park with us on the MGF Register stand though, you will need our club code NOT the MGCC one, as space is organised on the number of cars booked per club stand via the code.

Our club code can be obtained by emailing mgf.events@mgfregister.org or you can catch it published in the next edition of FasTForward which is due out in early February.

The recommended camp site this year, even though it is not within the circuit, it does have direct access to the circuit and has the added advantage of having a hotel/bar 'attached' so you can start the character building slowly this year

Now that's my idea of character building, a back up plan which includes somewhere warm and involves alcohol :thumbsu:

Advanced ticket are still on sale until Friday April 19th

Tickets will be available on the gate but the club discount will no longer be available after the 19th April. Many club members, luckily none of ours, missed out last year, so ensure you get your tickets ordered soon. The club code you need was in the last issue of FTF or if you do not subscribe to that, please contact me by email directly or via mgf.events@mgfregister.org

The club discount is well worth having, buy one get one free, so if you are there for the whole weekend, it is just £36 for two tickets, to see 3 full days of racing. Individual days are also on offer with the discount.

The provisional race time table can be seen already below.

Just over a week to go for buying your advanced tickets for this event to take up the 'buy one get one free' ticket and to get a place on the club stand on the infield with the other 60 car clubs taking part.

19th April is the closing date for tickets
or you can still buy on the day, but you then wont get the discount or the infield parking included.

Entertainment on the ground and in the air
As well as a packed programme of historic racing for all three days, the Ayrton Senna tribute and the historic rally car action, there will be a host of other attractions to keep visitors thoroughly entertained at the Festival.

Kevin Wheatcroft, the Chairman and owner of Donington Park, will take to the track each afternoon, giving demonstration laps in his replica of a 1937 Mercedes-Benz W125 Grand Prix car. This exceptional machine is the result of a long and extraordinary labour of love started by Kevin and his late father Tom, the founder of Donington Park and the Donington Park Grand Prix Collection.

The sounds of powerful historic engines are, of course, everywhere at the Donington Historic Festival and, as the circuit is adjacent to East Midlands Airport, the sights and sounds of modern-day aircraft are also a regular occurrence. At this year’s Festival, the aviation and historic elements will combine, with a flypast from the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Finally, with around 60 car clubs, from Abarthisti to Z Club of Great Britain, now registered to attend the Festival, Donington Park’s infield will be home to a veritable A-Z of motoring for the weekend!

If you fancy joining us for a day or the full weekend at Donington Historic .........

A message from the organisers

Club ticket sales close Friday April 19th

A very important one, this. Please remind your members that car club ticket sales will close at midnight on Friday, April 19th. After that date we will not be able to take any more car club bookings. We'd love to see as many of your members there as possible, so please remind them that they now only have a few days left to make their booking!

Tickets arrived today :thumbsu:
Well they did once the house holder who had them pushed through his door by Royal Mail, walked them up to my house and gave them to me
Hopefully at the weekend or early next week, I will have an infield plan of the club stands. All I know so far is we will not be within Redgate this year.

Maps should be supplied on the entrance to the infield tunnel when you arrive. There are a few of us going up on the Friday so the gazebo should be up to guide you in if you are only arriving on the Saturday or Sunday. We are next door to the main MGCC club stand.

We have 1 slot on each day for a member to take part in the parade lap at the lunch time. I will have the sign on details with me and we will decide on the morning of each day who takes part in the lap.

We just need the weather to improve so we can have a fun packed weekend of classic racing.

If anyone needs any further information before the weekend, please contact me by Thursday evening as I may not have internet access from Friday onwards.
