NEC Classic Car Show - 15-17th November 2013

Post by Keith Williams » Sun Sep 15, 2013 12:04 pm

The MGF Register will again be at the NEC near Birmingham for the Classic Car Show this November for the 3 day show. This is the last big show of the year and attracts most of the car clubs. You also get the added bonus of getting into the Classic Bike show on the same ticket.

This year it will be a bigger and brighter show with more car clubs involved. We will be part of the main MG Car Club stand this year and we will be in hall 10.

The discount codes for club members will be on page 77 of this months Safety Fast and can be used for the Saturday & Sunday. Friday show prices are a little more expensive than the weekend but the show is easier too get around.

Full details on the show can be found at Classic Car Show

Show dates/times are:
Friday November 15th - from 10am - 6.30pm
Saturday November 16th - from 9am - 6.30pm
Sunday November 17th - from 9am - 5.30pm

We are still looking for a show car for the stand, so if you have a F/TF and are able to supply your car from Thursday 14th (pm) until the show closure on the Sunday night around 6pm, please get in touch. You do not need to stay with the car for the full show but if you do, you will have plenty of chance to talk to show customers for the weekend.

Keith, you usually go for flashy monogram painted TF's for these events, which I can well understand, but if you're stuck, I've got a very nice Trophy 160 in yellow. The car's completely standard, so not overly flashy, but it looks stunning under lights! I also live quite close to the NEC if it helps, Phil

Thanks for your offer of your car Phil for the show :thumbsu:

We like a car that stands out at a show and your Trophy in yellow will definitely do that. There is nothing wrong with a standard F and would suit the Classic Show well. A Trophy Yellow will certainly catch the eye from a distance

Hi Keith, glad you like the idea of a Trophy Yellow Trophy 160 for the stand. I'll have her cleaned up and looking beautiful so just let me know if you definitely want her for the stand, Phil

A great Idea BUT it is only good for the Rugby Scrums on Saturday and Sunday. Early on Friday is the best time to go so that you can move around easy. Friday afternoon becomes more crowded as people take the afternoon off work.

Still a few days to buy your advanced tickets with the club discount for the show :thumbsu:

The show will be using 11 halls this year. The MGF Register will be part of the main MG Car club stand - hall 10 - stand 300. We are just in front of the Silverstone auction stand and close to the Sporting Bears Charity area. Please come and say hello to us and bring us your ticket stub as we can reclaim £1 for each one we can return to the organisers.

Our show car will really stand out, so you should not miss us as you past the stand. We will have a full range of regalia on the stand, so come and get your early Christmas stocking fillers.

A stand lay out of the show can be found below.

We had an amazing weekend at the NEC, meeting members old and many new ones too :thumbsu:

Been on the MG Car Club stand really worked well and between us, the Zed Register and the Kimber House staff, the club put on a grand show and welcomed many new members to the club. A good few of them were joining the MGF Register, so we and the club were really happy :D

We had a great team on the stand over the weekend, so big thanks have to go to Chris who covered all three days with me, Nigel & Jo who covered two days and Graham and Ron who helped us cover the Sunday. I am never sure why it is so tiring just chatting to members and potential new members but it is and I was pleased to see the end of the show last night but we will be back there next year with hopefully a bigger stand to celebrate the 90th birthday of the MG.

Phil's Trophy was a real stand out car and we had plenty of interest from people who cold not just walk past the car.

Hi Keith,

Great to see the stand so busy on Saturday. I wasn't planning to go, but a friend 'twisted my arm'. I was going to come back for a chat but you were deep in conversation. The Trophy did look good under the lights.

Regards

Gary

Just wanted to say 'thank you' for all the kind and positive comments received about the Trophy. it was a terrific show and I was delighted to have been able to help by supplying the car. I thought the stand worked really well and I know from experience just how hard it is manning a busy exhibition stand like this, so a big 'thank you' should also go out to the team for all their hard work and aching limbs! I thought you might be interested to see this photo of the stand. Phil
