For everyone's info
"Roger Bragger the Chairman of the MG Octagon Car Club invites all MG owners
to a day of interest at Middleton Hall near Tamworth, Staffs.
This will be a chance to gather in the glades of the wooded area, with bar,
or on the car park to have a day nattering about our cars. The grounds will
be open to the public and there will be a competition for the public to
nominate the car they would most like to take home with them (if they had
the chance)
I have sent this invitation to all of the local natters, clubs and registers
so they can, if they wish, organise a run to the Hall. It will be open to
all MGs and it will be a pleasure to see convoys of MGs, our pride and
joy, making there way to Middleton. You can look at the hall itself and
learn about its history from 1245 to 1845. It is also a Site of Special
Scientific Interest. It has been the home of two of the foremost British
Naturalists, Francis Willoughby and John Ray. It has a mediaeval lake, a
walled garden a 16th Century jettied building and is home to the Peel
collection. Guided tours will be available for all of the buildings and
collections.
As the hall and its grounds are alongside the Middleton Lakes an RSPB site
(when it is fully open it will be one of the biggest reserves in Britain) we
have arranged for guided tours for those interested in wild birds and flora
of the area.
Amington Brass Band, an award winning band from Tamworth. will be on site
giving you a chance to listen to some wonderful music whilst having your
picnic in the grounds of this wonderful set of buildings. Light
refreshments are available either in the Hall or in the courtyard of craft
type shops and a coffee shop.
As a diversion, try to approach via the Belfry on the A4091, there you will
see at Moxall Fork, now known as the Belfry roundabout, AA Box 335. This
had been removed about 40 years ago and Kevin whose land the box is on had a
replacement made and sited on the exact spot, it is stunning!
The price for this day will be £15 per car for up to two passengers. For
