Haven't been able to use the car for the last 2 weeks as been back in hospital - so you can imagine my excitement when I'm given the ok to drive on Wednesday, now the car is on the drive approx 3 metres from the front door, I've looked at the bonnet and something didn't look right, then looked inside and what.... looked like someone had tried to take the whole dash and centre console out and the hard top all undone ready to be whisked away... I cannot put into words my thoughts at that moment
Called the police and insurance company, it was obvious whoever had been disturbed (fortunate for me) as they'd left the tools of their trade on the seat, so now I have to wait for soco to check it over, evidence taken and now off to the garage, insurance co promised courtesy car which never arrived, then the garage said can't give me courtesy car as parts for Rover/MG are hard to get and it could be 2-3 months wait and not prepared to give me a car for that length of time. So I'm really not very happy now. So a lot of phone calls later and the garage call and say they have made the car secure so I can come and collect it and then just wait for the parts, I ask what parts and they answer - the gear stick cover - I'm now asking what about the 2 dents (although quite small) and the marks where they've used a screwdriver on the bonnet, he replies saying come and look at the car and we can talk about it. I now arrive to see the car has been cleaned, the dash etc all replaced and the bonnet fixed, with only a few small marks on the edge of the bonnet although the dents are still there. I'm told as a goodwill gesture this has been done for free so I do not need to pursue through the insurance, so all things considered, i.e. my excess, I thought I could probably get the marks done from a garage of my choice cheaper. I'm driving the car home and realise I've got not lights on the passenger side (front and back) and no dash lights
So decision time - shall I now take the car back on Monday to the garage or just get it all done off my own back????
) Not going to bother putting the hard top back on, it seems that its too much of a temptation for some light fingered sods. But hey the warmer weather is on the way now hopefully. Saving up the pennies now to get the bonnet and wing resprayed. See you all soon.
