What about a Sunday run & Lunch?

Post by NigelS » Fri Dec 28, 2012 9:30 pm

It's been a bit quiet in the SC region of late & I got to thinking about the Sunday lunch runs we used to hold in the winter season.

Anyone interested in a bit of a run through the New Forest (as an example) with pub lunch at the end - or similar? I'm open to suggestions about when & where & am happy to organise / coordinate. Was thinking of late January perhaps.

Post here if you are interested & then I'll take it forwards if there is any / enough interest. Oh, also tell me where you want to go if you are not keen on the New Forest!

I am up for it! John did a really good circular route a few years back - which I have forgotten.....

I'm pretty certain that Norma has something arranged for the 27th so I may be able to make the lunch venue but may have to give the run a miss, will confirm later, New Forest ok for me.

I would like that. It would make good use of otherwise boring Sundays, and perhaps it would save me some travelling too, if it was a bit closer to home for me. I could then drop some of the Bucks Head meetings, until my health and the weather improve. 8-)

Hi Ruth,

Is the 'Forest OK for you? I am happy to organise wherever. I notice the Somerset & Dorset group had a run down to the Boat that Rocked at Portland. We could do something a bit nearer to you, say Highcliffe, Christchurch etc.

What do you think? I feel that there are probably 5 cars interested so I am happy to come up with some:

a) dates
b) route(s)

Be good to see you all again :thumbsu:

Many thanks for the offer of organising this.

Hope it goes ahead. Chris and I will be up for it. We may be twos up on the scooter as our only road legal vehicle at the moment but it should make for an interesting ride out.

I will be away on the last Sunday of this month, but any other Sunday is good. I don't mind where we go as long as I can try and keep it around 100 to 120 miles round trip. I've missed everyone, so make it soon please.

Sorry Nigel, like Ruth would have to give the last Sunday (27th) a miss after all, reasonably free otherwise.

Likewise, we are now unavailable for 27th, as will be on our way to Tunisia.

Are we going to do this, or is it going to fizzle out ? :(

Yeah, yeah we're gonna do it. Sorry have been away a lot this month so not much time to organise as yet.

We could tag it onto the Mayfly lunch date of course - what do others think about that one?

Whatever you wish, Nigels. It's been a long winter, barely started, and I need some fun. 8-)

Maybe follow Mykel and Anders all the way to Stoneleigh?

Trying to remember if the coffee at Gaydon is up to scratch ..... :?
I think I might make it that far, but Stoneleigh may be a bridge too far for me. 8-)

Thinking about it, I have actually scrapped the idea to go to Gaydon. We would be in quite a rush to get there with enough time left to actually see anything (they close at 5 pm) and the weather seems to permit a nice, scenic drive along the country lanes. Forecast according to weather.com says 9 degrees, partly cloudy and only a 10% risk of rain. Sounds topless, doesn't it?
So what about a 90 mile/3 hour run from the Mayfly to Stratford-upon-Avon? This would mean we have more time to spend at the Mayfly, and a nice drive afterwards. Here's the route I found, but I'd be happy for the locals to improve it.

See you Saturday,
Mykel
