Coolant pipes

Just a quickie! ;)

Where is the best place for me to get some coolant pipes from?

My coolant looks awful and I know the pipes are VERY badly corroded. Just thought it might also help with the VERY sluggish performance - somehow!!

Two options really Max, the first is to replace with standard pipes which are surprisingly cheap. Got mine from Clifton-Lane in Northampton for £30+vat but you can get stainless steel ones too. Don't know how much they are but probably quite a bit more... 8-)

I was thinking about the SS ones as I don't want to muck about and go cheap on the coolant system really because of risk of HGF. I will have a look and let you know where I get them from.

Did you fit your own?

Nah, Clifton-Lane did it when they did my HGF. It was then I discovered I needed them as when the coolant system pressure test was done, a small spray was detected near one of the welds on one of the pipes (always the weak spots as it's where the road grime gathers) so had to be done. I probably would have gone with SS ones too but as I was paying for the HGF at the time, I had to budget!

Not that difficult to do though, as long as you know the correct method for bleeding the system... :?

Rich.

Thanks for the replies and advice. I'm just waiting for a call back from the garage and all will be sorted - thank goodness! :)

I had mine replaced last July, when i spotted a tiny drip of water on the floor. Pipes Cost £60, total cost inc Labour, antifreeze etc £140. The system was pressured filled, It is difficult to DIY as you must keep the car level when jacked up.
Good Luck
