Rear roof rubber question

Post by castingflame » Mon Mar 09, 2015 6:14 pm

When the roof is shut I can just about see daylight on both sides of the roof on the vertical rubber section that stands up where the pivot point of the frame is. How can this be water tight? I have attached a photo that hopefully shows the area a bit better.

I have just replaced the rear roof rubber as it had a split in it but the previous one was the same. Incorrect fitting or poor design?

Many thanks, Paul

Believe it or not, this IS quite wather tight! The only thing you have to have a look at is the rubber lip. On my TF when I close the hood, I need to tuck it under the roof edge manually as it will sit on the outside. This will then form kind of a funnel which will allow water in if the car's parked outside in the rain. No probs under driving, though.
