I've not been, but know several that have been / do go.
They say its great, and go via Continental Car Tours.

We went in 2006, it was the first european outing we'd done with the register, was great & I for one would like to do it again.
We made our own arrangements had 5 days first in the Sable D'lone area then drove down to the hotel everyone had booked in Angouleme (Ibis??), we didn't know anyone who was going but we were made very welcome.
Drove back with John & Lyn & Stu.
Since then we've become addicted to euro jaunts & done a couple of Kempenrits, Switzerland, Italy, Norway, Holland & loads of places in between & made some good friends on the way.
Maybe we could plan a return in 2010?

We held an F Register "Natter that Matters" there in 2006 as Neil says. The weekend was great and the racing fantastic - the weather not so great particularly on the saturday when the Concours De Elegance got rained off in the evening. It was the same weekend as the MGFIM and Goodwood Revival this year.
Highly recoomended for the sheer spectacle of the vintage and classic racing in the tight city streets - somehting to definitely put on your "To Do" list !
You'll find a write up and some pics in the F Register archives here :- http://www.mgfregister.org/mgpitfiles/NTM2/NTM2.htm
This pic is taken looking dowan from the ramparts and should give you some idea of what its like

I'll add to those words with great enthusiasm.
The fact that you can wander around the pits and get close to the cars in a relaxed atmosphere is worthy of a great event. The cars get so close to the walls of the buildings, the sound of the exhausts bouncing off the walls and the tyres screeching in effort is worth the trip.
You can chose almost anywhere around the town using the buildings and ramparts as a backdrop, a superb weekend.

Re: Angouleme - Circuit De Ramparts 2010
Hi,
If anyone is interested in 2010, I have made contact with the english MG club secretary that lives 20km from Angouleme, although his B&B is now full, we plus another couple have booked, he has lots of contacts and will advise about the Saturday run and race entrance tickets etc.
Certainly alot cheaper if you arrange the details yourself. I think we shall do Dover / Calais with an Thursday overnight on the way down near Rouen, return on the Monday morn.

Steve, we made all of our own plans, no need to employ a third party. We stayed in the Ibis at Angouleme north, dirt cheap, clean and tidy. About 7 or 8 km's from the town centre.

No my contact is Adrian Goodson, MG owner plus chairman for Charente MG Owners Club, 75 members, and a neighbour, friend of his Dave Brierley who used to work at Braintree College before he went to live in France.

Is anybody going to Angouleme this year - 2010? I have already booked the ibis for Fri, Sat and Sun so it would be good to see some others there.

Hi Tony, sorry to say, the calendar is pretty full this year (as most years) I don't personally know of anybody that's going.
If I hear of anybody, I'll put them in touch through here.

Re: Angouleme - Circuit De Ramparts 2010
Hi Neil:
At present there are 2 or 3 MG's cars going from the Essex area. We have already booked B&B in a local village with the local MG club chairman. We plan to drive down on the Thursday; booked with Norfolk Line £30 return!! overnight near Rouen ?? and then extend the trip to La Rochelle area just for a couple of days before return.
The local MG club are then helping us with Saturday run / tickets etc etc
Let us know your travel details if you want.
