EEOTY Ronneby Sweden 1st-5th August 2012

Welcome to the European MG Event
August 1st - 5th 2012
Ronneby, Sweden

Welcome to the European MG Event 2012
The M.G. Car Club of Sweden celebrates 60 years of existence and what would be better than having a European Event in Sweden at the same time. We have decided to hold the event in the landscape of Blekinge on the southeast coast in Sweden which is known to be close to paradise in the summer. The town of Ronneby is often called the ”Heart of Sweden´s Garden”.
Ronneby Brunn Hotell will be the connecting point for all participants, where they can enjoy a very high quality hotel*** with Spa and outdoor pools.

Wednesday is the arrival day. Upon arrival at Ronneby Brunn you will be welcomed by MGCC staff, who will show you the parking area and guide you further on to the hotel building. Check-in takes place after arrival and is in the reception at the main entrance. All MG cars will be parked at special areas around the hotel and in the beautiful Brunnsparken. In the evening there will be an opening ceremony and after that the welcome dinner at the hotel. The MG-parking will be guarded during the nights.

During Thursday and Friday we invite guests on scenic tours in order to visit interesting and exciting places. We have really done our utmost to give our guests a piece of Swedish tradition and memorable experiences to bring back home. Saturday is at your own disposal. We will inform you about other interesting places to visit on your own. Otherwise you and your partner
can just relax and use all facilities of the hotel. On Saturday evening there will be a gala dinner with reception, speeches and dancing. On Sunday morning it is thank you and bye bye...

If anyone wishes to arrive one day before or stay some days fter the event, there will be no problems. You simply reserve at the hotel using the reference EMGE and you will get discounted prices. Please do book in good time and the best would be to reserve any extra nights at the same time as you reserve for
the event.
Hotel Ronneby Brunn tel. +46 (0)457-75000, fax +46 (0)457- 15647, www. ronnebybrunn.se.

We hope you and your partner will appreciate our event and jubilee and we are looking forward to meet you in Ronneby on a beautiful summer day in 2012. Registration for our event can be made on our website, which opens on December 1st 2011. The distance from the Malmö/Öresund bridge to Ronneby is about 185 km.

Eva-Britt & Håkan Sigemark, eventspresidents

What's the cost Colin ?, I can't book until I know the price as you have to include getting there and back of course.

Colin, as you know I've got concerns about the cost of this event, I've just looked at the DFDS site, to cross July 30th and back 6th August (nearest dates to the event) will cost £660 for the crossing plus £380 for a compulsory basic two berth cabin, total £1,040. Add a tank of fuel and the cost of the event and I reckon you're looking at £2,000.

If you drive the whole way you will need three days of driving in each direction with at least two overnight hotels with lunch and dinner each day. It's 922 miles for me in each direction, for you it's 1,035 miles. For me, close to Dover, at 40 mpg that's 46 gallons of fuel at £5.50 total £235. With hotels around £75 per night and food £20 per day each, the cost of the Channel crossing, the Puttgarden ferry from Germany to Denmark, toll roads and the Oresund bridge/tunnel you have to look at £850-£900 just to drive there and back, add to this it's another six days on the event with 2000 miles minimum added to your car.

You know the cost of hotels and food on Swedish events, I need to see the prices first I'm afraid.

lets hope MGCC Sweden have learnt from MGCC Belgium's priceing of this years EEOTY!

You can easily cross to Calais at 8am ish and get to Gut Moorbeck late afternoon (we did it last year, and will be doing it again next year) then it's a night in Helsingbourg so only 2 nights travelling there. My intention is to come back on the ferry (again like last year), but may pop over into Norway first.

We'll just have to wait and see how the prices stack up Adrian. I will be going, may also be having two nights at Gut Moorbeck (there's a Mercedes factory tour being sorted for us!)

Colin, you're younger than most. To get to Dover (to arrive in Calais by 8) willl mean a very, very early start or an overnight. To drive to Gut Moorbeck from home in one day is too far, it's no longer fun. It's easy on your own, you cannot do that if you taking a group of cars. I always think of others as you know.

it was 8ish when we left Folkestone, and the others travelling with me didn't complain about driving the distance, but I see what you mean.

Ronneby Sweden 2012
Good to see the invite to your Swedish event on the forum Eva-Britt and Håkan.
We have just booked hotel accomodation, as we definitely want to attend this event, as we had such a lovely time on Öland last year.
Look forward to seeing you again also Colin.
All the best
Alan and Jette

Hi Colin
Good to hear from you. Unfortunately we cannot attend the Eifel meet, our calendar is booked full, family stuff! The only event for us ,will be at Kjeld's in Randers here in Denmark, where, amongst others, Herbie and Steiner shall be too.
See you another time

possible ferries for return home from both Norway (Brevik) and Sweden (Gothenburg) to the UK (Immingham)

http://freight.dfdsseaways.com/dfds_ferries

Sweden-UK ferry info from Hakan : -

"Dear Friends

There is an alternative for ferry to sweden

Look at dfds torline on goggle

They have ferries Immingham – Gothenburg

170 gbp per person including cabin and meals

140 gbp for car

Admfee gbp 25

Prices one way

Takes 26 hours

Could this be an alternative for some people in uk?

Best regards

Hakan"

Many Thanks Hakan

The day before the event (when we arrive in Sweden) Hakan and Eva-Britt will already be at the Event location getting things set up for us.

Some of our other Swedish friends have offered to meet us at the Oresund Bridge (Denmark-Sweden bridge) and stay with us, possibly at Helsingborg, that evening, and then us all setting off on a scenic drive to the event.

The Swedish hospitality when we visit Sweden is always good :thumbsu:

I am starting to put some ideas together for next years runs and this is a possible for me. Would also like to see what other runs are on the registers list for 2012. It is steep in cost as has been noted but the region is on my radar.

Need to put the final costs together before I can confirm for sure and would like to know who else maybe thinking about this trip.... The Oresund Bridge is a defo so a meet up would be good. May consider the ferry back though.....

Hi Stu,

it would be great if you could join us for this next year. Event costs should be known 1/12/11

Getting there I see 3 options

1 = drive there from France, Belgium, then Germay (stay at Gut Moorbeck?), Puttgarden ferry to Denmark and drive over the Oresund bridge which is what I've done twice before
2 = ferry Hawrich (sorry spelling doesn't look right)to Hook of Holland drive to Gut Moorbeck and then as per option 1
3 = ferry Harwich to Esjberg (Denmark) which is the way i came back last year. I remember a warm sunny crossing during the day, watching Dolphins playing alongside the ferry

Hi Klaus and Christine, good to hear from you!!

Looking forward to seeing you both at MG Live (hoping its 23-24 June!), I will not be at TdL next year, but will be in 2013.

Indeed a bigger tour is being looked into. Guess we need to see prices of Swedish event first! Hakan promises that it will be cheaper than EEOTY2011 Spa was so fingers crossed its much cheaper! We eagerly await 1/12/11 for this pricing information!!
