MGF and TF160 take on Le Mans 2013... sort of :)

Post by MaddAussie » Fri Nov 08, 2013 12:24 am

So back in June Sparky135, MrsSparky135, tanamana and myself spent 2 weeks in Le Mans which happened to coincide with the 24 hours of Le Mans!

On the Monday before the race we drove as much as the track as we could and I got a bit of video on my phone (apologies for the crap angel I didn't move the mount)

Next year it should be better as I now have a GoPro :)

Sorry I forgot about it...

Quite a lot of roundabouts for a race track!

But there's two chicanes that you can't use so it makes up for it!

if you get the opportunity to drive it as a track, including the part of the Bugatti circuit used, do so, it's amazing, and very different to the roads in standard form, for example roundabouts bypassed in some cases :thumbsu:

I did this a few years ago and highly recommend it.

An opportunity will probably present iteslef at next years Classic LeMans, through MG Club de France as one of the options alongside entrance tickets is also "parade" laps ( but much faster than parade laps usually are) 8-)

We have dinner in the restaurant every year on race night.

John and I did the drive-able bits on Sunday afternoon and there was no traffic at all.

True but for the last few years I have used my ticket upto Thursday night and not gone to the race over the weekend.
Blame Audi, which car will win? May be better next year with Porsche. I have helped driving a shuttle bus for a tour operator so got some pocket money.
Good week but the race has lost its edge for my taste.

Cool - I drove the Monaco F1 circuit a few days after the race a couple of years ago in the F, most of the barriers were still up, I managed 3 laps before Mrs TC noticed.
Home to black Alfa 159 3.2 V6 Q4, blue MGZR160, green MGF VVC and grey MGF 1.8i, and red MG Maestro T16.

We've a static caravan in Normandy - an ideal staging post for this trip. Alas with short people (albeit getting taller) it will be a few more years before we can enjoy the MGF with just the two of us.
