Problem solved storing hardtop
I thought this simple but effective method of storing a hardtop may help others, I knocked it up in under an hour and it woks well although i think i will add wheels.

Re: Problem solved storing hardtop
Hi a good idea! I have solved my storage problem by making a winch system that lifts the roof directly off the car and stores it in the roof of the garage it can then be refitted in a short time by one person. Ken b.

Re: Problem solved storing hardtop
I like that - better than the supplied wall clamps I think - and being made of soft wood shouldn't damage the hard top in storage.
That's given me ideas on something similar for high-up wall storage... hmm...

Re: Problem solved storing hardtop
I did exactly the same thing with a Stag hard top and the half/roof thing on a Freelander. Makes so much sense rather than having the roof taking up floorspace.Ken b wrote:Hi a good idea! Do not invert, contents liable to spill.

Re: Problem solved storing hardtop
We can only have people for dinner in the Winter. The hardtop blocks access to the table for the rest of the year.

Re: Problem solved storing hardtop
Good idea. I'll have to have a go at knocking one up in the spring. What are the approximate dimensions between the horizontal parts at the bottom and how high up, off the ground do they need to be?

Re: Problem solved storing hardtop
Good idea, but maybe add a strengthening member across the two 'uprights' and some pipe insulation to the surfaces that touch the Hardtop would be a simple, cheap addition?
I also hear hanging basket brackets make for a good storage solution.![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)

Re: Problem solved storing hardtop
Hi
Measurements are, 2 x uprights 1100 cm 2 x bottom 100 cm 2 bottom 400 cm 45 x 45 soft wood, I did not bother with insulation as my hard top bag is padded and I have also added wheels, makes it easy to move around the shed.![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
