It’s only taken 4 year's and I finally managed to talk Cath into getting the wheels refurbished on her 1996 F and we are both very happy with the results.
https://www.google.co.uk/url…
for the refurb and also to supply two new Toyos for the front (they matched the price of Black Circle).
They charge £40 for refurb, £45 if you want the inside of the wheel refurbished as well or £50 for a complete colour change on the wheel, which we think is very competitive.
For the more observant among you, yes Cath has finally taken the hard top off.

After spending 5 hours on one O/E wheel nut I bought some solid ones through ebay, had them delivered to Argos, collected and fitted them today.

Sailed through the MOT today, as it should do with all the TLC!
All set for Summer now, if it ever arrives.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Ka-boom, white steam on Friday approaching the Cologne “Stammtisch” meeting. Coolant tank empty on arrival, topped up but it came straight out again. No overheating or loss of heater temperature. I did have a certain suspicion and here’s the culprit:
So today I swapped the bugger for a brand new replacement, remembered to slightly bend the heat shield (as it was rubbing) and took the opportunity to fit the underbody coolant pipes I got from Gary more than 1½ years ago.
Everything looks tight now, going for a test drive tomorrow morning. No obvious head gasket issues.MGTF:

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
I had mine put on by Mike Satur as another company in b'ham cocked up putting a 4-2-1 manifold on the car and burnt one of the main rubber pipes and then didn't reply to my emails regarding said cock up

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
I bet I know who that company was as I had a similar issue with them in 2009. I purchased their 4-2-1 manifold but it didn't fit and it had no heat shields so it was very close at both extremes. A long dispute ensued as said owner insisted it must fit as she has fitted many of these herself (really !).
In the end I bought one from Mike (note to self, don't buy the shiny one at Stoneleigh go where you trust).

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
At last I've got round to replacing the front and back badges that were damaged by winter salt. The car was used more last winter than usual due to road testing the routes for MGFIM.
In 2009 I replaced the originals on the car with an excellent pair of zinc badges from the MG badge man. They were very nice, no problems at all, they will never de-laminate but salt (I believe) killed some of the detail as you can see in the first picture.
Masked ready for removal. I thought I would protect the body of course so I got the dental floss and hair dryer ready.
I thought I would see if I can get it off without messing about so I placed a flat screwdriver under one edge on a cloth and hey presto, straight off, no damage no messing, now to get the sticky off
Once done, we're cooking on gas now, clean the surface, remove the masking tape and pop the excellent new badge on.
Off to the rear end, mask up and try again, hey presto, my lucky day, off as clean as a whistle and clean up the old adhesive. Lots of dirt here so a good clean, I found WD40 the best for removing the old stuff.
Pop the new badge on, clean and polish and job done in 20 minutes flat
I will add, the badges have the correct locating lugs on the back, perfectly cut 3M adhesive and at £7.99 each, I'm happy with my E Bay purchase, in fact I received three front wing badges and two in black/silver (if anybody wants them) as well.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Spring cleaning, should have done it a few years ago. if you have never removed your front wheel arch liners for a clean, I recommend you do. I used to do it on the F but it's been put off due to too much MG stuff getting in the way until the weekend.
Looks like a birds nest when the liner is removed :
Doesn't take long to clean and protect but do it when you can.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Finally managed to fit the modified fascia panel with the CB radio unit in it. I must say, this is a really snug fit and the display can be read from the driver’s seat even when driving in fifth. Oh, and I also changed the heater control panel to a MY2005 one.
This is the fascia in full glory: and here’s a close up of the CB unit mounted in the lower box: I will make some plastic side frames to mask off the holes to the left and right, but first I wanted to check if it really fits. the back end of the CB unit actually touches the SRS control unit. Is this dangerous by any means, like the radio signal triggering the airbag? My idea is to slide in a small piece of rubber later to keep it from rubbing.
A view from the driver’s seat shows the display is readable: I now need to find a place for the mike to go, or should I just leave it flying around?
For transmission, I used a slightly longer s/s aerial (85 centimetres), which had the threaded pin adapted to fit the original antenna base. Thus I could use the original wiring, which is then hooked up to a splitter, distributing the signal to both the head unit and the CB. I must admit, the SWR is not really good (measured 3.5 on a very old analogue meter), but without a proper CB wiring what else could you expect. Also, this setup can easily be returned to original without a problem.
