21 years and counting
I bought N7 brand new 21 years ago and we have had so many adventures together. Despite a growing family I’ve managed to keep her going although with other commitments, she didn’t do many miles last year...
Time for that to change I think. N7 will be the next project! Project Shed will continue on of course, but N7 was the first love and my first competition car!
I had planned on doing the cam belt service myself, but owing to other commitments and other issues, I won’t have time to do it - so it’s going to the local MG specialist for its service and MoT
I reconnected the battery this morning. As usual, she fired straight up and purred
All lights worked bar the OSF indicator: corroded connector. Ideally needs s new bulb holder, but have cleaned it up for now and looking good.
Treated her to a quick wash between flurries of snow and will take her for an italian tune up... fingers crossed for the MoT!

Re: 21 years and counting
My Mark 1 will be 21 this March. Still running well with over 120K miles on the clock. The car is quite clean and rust free having lived near the Med for most of its life. I will have owned it 10 years in April. Seen here being used as a cushion by our cat...

My Rover 200 R3 is now in 22nd year while my R600 is now in 24th year. They to benefit from Meditteranean climate as well.

Re: 21 years and counting
Ha ha: mines “benefitted” from the Northern European climitate and being left outside 365 days a year, plus the careful loving attention of the local yummy mummies in their Chelsea tractors...
Re: 21 years and counting
What's wrong with a Chelsea tractor?
My wife's F will be 23 come August. It's lived a pampered and sheltered life since making the trip across the Atlantic 7 years ago.

Re: 21 years and counting
nothing at all - unless it crashes into my car, or a door is opened carelessly. Needn't be a tractor either... I lived in central London for years and never had a scrape. But living near a school is a real hazardmowog73 wrote:What's wrong with a Chelsea tractor?

Only two months to go and the f turns 22 as well. Still a great car, doing over 6000 miles a year, just for holiday-trips and MG related events.
MGFvvc - 90FVBG - charcoal - you might think it is original - (1996 nr:8204)

MGC CGT - SJ08DY - tartan red - 1985 restauration fairly original - (1968 nr: 4137)

My Austin Seven (also built at Longbridge) will soon be 85 years old, and it's still going well too.

All deference to the Austin but my BRG Mk 1 now has 216967 miles on the 22+ original engine and pulls well, burns no oil, etc but looks externally cold and shabby:-
It is also displaying 90 degrees anticlockwise in preview!- colintf

Thanks Colin, until the recent wiring loom issues it has been nothing but a stroll in the park....... Lots more could do it without the bad press these cars get - and reading about every weird thing that always gets posted!

Re: 21 years and counting
N7 is through the MoT with a couple of advisories on surface corrosion on the subframes and corrosion on one of the brake pipes. Yay!
This MGF has been easily the most reliable car I've ever owned. Only 114k as my annual mileage in it has plummeted in recent years, but always starts within a revolution of cranking with a fresh battery and has never failed to complete a journey!
Time to get this project on the road. Need to upload some pictures to show how she's looking now (not pretty) - but I'll get this fixed soon!
