Alloy cleaner

Post by hammond » Tue Jun 19, 2018 10:01 pm

Can anyone recommend a good cleaner/polisher for BLACK alloys?
The stuff I got is fine for chrome alloys but seems to leave a smear on my new black ones.

I use Autoglym "Clean Wheels" on the gloss black alloys on my OH's GTI. Good at removing build up of brake dust and tar etc and non smear finish when dried off. Their Custom wheel cleaner may appeal more, although I've never tried it.

Autoglym have a relatively new product on the market 'liquid clay' which works very well on polished black alloys, however the smell (to me) is absolutly replusive. It even smells through the 5 litre container, and on the wheel and ground after use.

Try the wife's Cillit Bang (orange) just don't leave it on too long before you rinse it off.
