Re: electrical help needed
So my goose is cooked is it ?
Very well, I will take a look at the MOT site - in the meantime, if there are any MOT inspectors out there, or aquaintances thereof, who can throw some light on this I would be grateful for the help.

Re: electrical help needed
From what I have seen, nothing has been finally decided yet as to the meaning of the term ' illegal ' with reference to an ECU modification on *current production* cars - nor has a means of testing other than a 'visual' check been mooted.
The language seems vague to the point of obscurity.
My trump card ? - my car is NOT a * current production * vehicle.

Re: electrical help needed
For anyone with a remap, section 6.1.9 may be relevant.
6.1.9 Engine performance:
(a) Control unit illegal modified.
(b) Illegal engine modification.
(by 'illegal', it is assumed that they mean changed/programmed differently from OEM specifications)

Re: electrical help needed
So - current information suggests that they are no further forward with the ' illegal engine chipping ' thing than they were when that was written.
What exactly constitutes ' illegal ' in this context ?
No further clarity there. I suspect it will have more to do with emissions than enhanced performance.
It has been decided since the above was written that there will be NO change to the frequency of testing.

Re: electrical help needed
The big question I would like to have answered is :
Will all these changes be applied retrospectively ?
