Re: MG TF 2002 Press Car
Wow! Great find!
And just to add to that history file, a fellow MGF'er spotted this very car on Pendine! Some additional pictures to add to the ones that were printed in Car, comparing the new and old: http://mgf.ultimatemg.com/group1/info/T ... ghting.htm
Funny to see that same TF looking as grubby as the F pictured above...

Interestingly in the same thread above second press MG TF appeared - BU51 JFY in grey colour. The very next one after the green.

Re: MG TF 2002 Press Car
Hi, I’m the new owner of the Green press car. This thread was mentioned in mine so I thought I’d pop over and say hello.
I’m interested in tracking down any history relating to the car. I have found it in 3 magazine articles so far (Autocar, CAR and MG World) and been told of a 4th that I haven’t tracked down yet (MG Enthusiast Magazine May 2002). I have also taken a wild punt buying a few magazines of the time that mention TF reviews but might not turn out to be this car, I’m waiting for them to be delivered to find out.
I don’t suppose anyone has a contact for ‘Ed’ from that Pendine post on ultimatemg.com? I’d like to ask if he took any other photos on the day.
Anyway hopefully I can bring this TF back to the road, it’s in a bit of a sorry state but it should live again.

Re: MG TF 2002 Press Car
Hello,
I'm the new owner of the pre-production Xpower Grey press car BU51 JFY, manufactured on 29/11/01 and first registered on 10/1/02.
The car has no service history other than it's first service while still on the press fleet at 14,700 miles. It is now at 55,800 miles so has had little use over the intervening years so I'm starting from scratch.
It is generally in good condition and I'm in the process of bringing it up to my standards. In the last 14 days have replaced the ancient set of mismatched tyres with a new set of Toyo Proxes. Fitted a new stainless exhaust and cat, Pipercreoss panel filter. Had a full big service which includes cam belts etc..all done at my local MG specialist Clifton Garage in Northampton.
Kmaps are coming to do their magic tomorrow.
I'm planning to use it on a few trackdays, with that in mind I've purchased but not fitted as yet:
Xpower Mk.1 roll hoops, Mintex M1144 racing pads and Moto-build "torque tamer" poly bushes.
Other jobs are in the pipeline.........

Re: MG TF 2002 Press Car
Welcome both!
Good to chat to you via email Steve - I will see if I have any more details/pictures of your car on Pendine sands and will see if I can find the original email - but I suspect it may not work anymore 20 years down the line
