2010 MGTF alarm not always deactivating
Hi, have had a problem recently with the alarm. It sets ok on the fob on locking. Sometimes, when going to unlock the car the doors unlock and the alarm sounds. I then have to lock and unlock it again to get it to deactivate. It does this most times but not every time. Also on occasion when I turn the key in the ignition to start the car I get nothing and have to press the lock and then the unlock on the remote after which it starts fine. It is a low mileage chinese era car. Any ideas? Thanks. John.

How fresh are the batteries in the remote?

Thanks. I can see from the service history that one of the fobs had its battery replaced in January 2013. The problem ocuurs with both fobs that I have.

Do the Chinese ones also have that pesky Pektron BCU/alarm unit (YWC001541) fitted? These are famous for relay faults and breaking soldering points. I’d think this could be a job for Paul (Technozen), he’s in Brighton, so maybe not too far from you when you’re in the South East?

Could be but it seems strange if both fobs are affected? Car has only done 18,000 miles so they wont have had much use.

The fob batteries are a service item and should be changed annually, regardless of use, to avoid problems.
