Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.
Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.
Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway!
Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

2005 MGTF Bonnet!!
The dreaded has happened nearly 95% certain!!!
Tried to open the bonnet this afternoon just when it went dark to put the tricle charger on the battery, and my worst nightmare the bonnet would not open!!
Any helpful ideas would be much appreciated to get it to open as the battery does not like the cold?
Cheers
Mike

Re: 2005 MGTF Bonnet!!
Can you get someone else to push down on the front centre of the bonnet (where the catch is) at the same time as you pull the release lever? Assuming that the release cable is still intact?

You can charge your battery from the engine compartment. 12V live at the starter terminal.

Re: 2005 MGTF Bonnet!!
Does the front boot release mech have normal tension at the rear boot lever, ie is it trying to unlatch?

Re: 2005 MGTF Bonnet!!
Cables can stretch or the cable end snap. But that will generally lead to an abnormal feel to the cable.
Bonnet can still be opened with some ingenuity - but for obvious reasons, it can't be described on an open forum...

And Jon is 100% right - I trickle charge Project Shed with a cable wired to earth and the live strap to the starter motor - and have done so for years
