Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

Coolant Change on the MGF

Post by JadeF » Wed Nov 07, 2007 1:48 pm

Hiya,

This may or may not have been asked...............but............how easy/difficult is it to do a coolant change on my F? She's a 97 plate if that makes a difference...??

The other half is keen to have one done on her as we have only had her a few weeks and can't seem to find any history of her having her fluids done...... :?: :?:

Any help/tips/info is greatly appriciated.....

Thanks

Jade :D

I am a nopvice but I have now changed my coolant a few times with no problems. As long as you follow the instructions and check regularly for a few dyas/week afterwards, then it should not be a problem.

Still safer to use a garage with vacuum filler, but it's not the work of the devil that it someties comes across as being

hello jadef If you can afford it look at 4 live coolant £15 for 5lts (x2) it has no H2O so your under body pipes won't rust and it lasts 10 year also if HGF comes the coolant changes to yellow from red hopefully before to much damage is done IT is kind to your water pump also, not to mention your hoses. last of all it spreads heat evenly around your engine also helping to stop HGF
